I have done that a number of times, even broke down in his office a few times, he just takes the reassurance tact doing more talking than i do gives me whatever drugs i ask for and sends me on my way, i have sent begging letters to my urologist at the hospital to sort me out and they just call me back in give me the spiel about inflammation and say i must learn to live with it, and in time it will improve, a lot easier said than done when the pain and irritave voiding symptems are so severe, if it was half as bad i think i probably could live with it for now. This has progressively gotten worse over a 2 year period, they know all this yet dont seem concerned, what if it progresses further to really severe?? The thought scares me to death. I dont know what to do, they looked in my bladder twice already and all they said was "some inflammation" not saying whereabouts it is either, the main pain i have is burning urethral and a prickly feeling all over my groin with the constant urge to go which is so strong it makes concentration on anything difficult, my bladder hurts when filling to and excruriating when full, and by full i mean 250-300ml.....not much is it and i am going about twice an hour but feel like i need to the rest of the time. Would they have seen IC on the 2 cystoscopy procedures i have already had in march and june this year? I doubt they will give me another one anyway. The NHS are knowingly leaving me in severe pain and distress and telling me to live with something i know i cant because its too severe at the moment, i cant find anything that makes it any better, or anything specific that makes it any worse, i do smoke but didnt when this really kicked off in march but was using nicotine gum for a long time before that, i gave in to the cigarretes when this pain all started but know i need to get off them somehow, i just need a break here, half as bad i could live with for now
Just tell your doctor you cant take the pain and get the bladder test done. Let me know how your doing later.

Burning searing pain in bladder and urethra. Burning into rectum testes and down back of legs, pinched nipping feeling in base of penis and constant need to urinate with low volume, severe feeling of unwellness and fatigue . 20mg of amitryptiline got me to sleep lastnight but i have woken up scared and miserable still in pain. The feeling of needing to pee all the time coupled with the pain is horrendous, i am seeing my doctor in the morning not that i think he can solve this, my son has a hockey match today i just wish this would go away so i can be a dad, i have put up with this with severe symptoms since march i have really had enough
Im sorry i went back to see your post about the pain. Ask your doctor about this and maybe you need some pain meds to get you through it but only take as prescribed.
What pain are you having?
There is no way out of the pain is there
Leaking in my underware, cant pee while standing real well, constant feeling of the need to pee. I deal with it as better than the alternative. Just accept it and look at it as something you have. You will find the reason and be ok very shortly. But you know the symtoms we have as not as bad as having a peice of wood stuck in our eye!!
Im sorry to hear that dave but so glad you are ok now, when you have episodes what makes it settle down for you, i am having a really bad day with it today, i am lucky i have such a supportive family to get me through
Just take it easy. The test for IC is pretty easy. they blow up your bladder and can check it very closely. Just try to get use to the feeling. I go through the same thing. I had prostate cancer 2 years back and had 45 rediation treatments. Im ok now but left me in the same situation as you. Just accept it for now till the test results come back.
Thanks for the advice, i will contact my urologist here in the uk and ask for the test, my symptoms just seem to be getting worse....my state of mind is really bad at the minute but i know this is not normal and i shouldnt be putting up with it, it is destroying my life and pulling my family apart and i cant bare it anymore, if its IC it doesnt make it any easier as most of the drugs used in the US are not available here in the UK......somethings got to give soon this is torture.
I just got back from the doc and said you maybe correct with IC and should be tested. he had a similar patient that went through all the same as you, even had surgery. He recommeded the IC test and thats what it turned out to be. Says very common. let me know later.

I think your on to something and will get back to you around 4pm florida time as am seeing my doc at 2:40
I have been doing a bit of research over the weekend and i am starting to think my symptoms fit more with IC than prostatitis
Thanks so much for your advice and kind words Dave, really appreciate it, thanks Dan
Im going to see my prostate doctor on monday afternoon and will tell him about your symptoms. Hes very knowlegeable about these things so will get back to you monday afternoon. I think the driving is related to your prostate problem. Its probably very sensitive as well are your urethra as you mentioned you had a lump removed a while back. In the sitting position is putting a lot of stress on that whole area.
Youll be just fine. Have a nice weekend

I was a coach driver for over 10 years but just drive a school minibus a few hours a day now, i know driving has been related to prostate issues but at 31 years old?! The only thing i ever got from driving was a bad back in certain vehicles that had very bad suspension, caused a disc bulge at L5s1 to add to the L4/5 herniation i had operated on when i was 18
You mentioned driving, is that what you do, you drive for a living? What kind of vehicle do you drive as many truck drivers have prostate problems due to the constant sittng and bumping.
The only work i can do at the minute is 3 hours a day 5 days a week driving split into 2 sessions morning and evening. I find my symptoms are worse in the morning and slightly better in the evening but i do wake usually twice a night to go, i dont really sleep that well and sometimes wake in the night with a more intense burning pain in my penis area.
The night before last i was woken a 3 am by my son having bad dreams, the minute i opened my eyes the intense burning was there and lasted all day with pain felt deep in my penis that it is pretty constant, it hurts to urinate and i go alot and cant hold more than 300ml without severe pain. The area just does not feel right, it shouldnt burn all the time and leave a knott like feeling each time i go. This morning i have woken up ferling much the same, painful urination, constant need to go pain radiating through my penis into my rectum, bowel movements are normally pretty unpleasant to, thanks again for your help
Dont have it removed as your sex life will be over and your to young for that. also you will have to wear diapers for many years. Dont go there, ill do some reasearch tomm and get back to you. Its 7pm thrusday night florida time and should have some news tomm mid moring. One thing for sure as i mentioned, you are at the prime age for this and is quite common, You may need to change your anxeity meds. As also mentioned it could be the butt loop muscle that is tense and it would cause your systoms. What is a daily example of what you go through, like what happened today and what type of work do you do.
dave
Hi there and Thanks for the advice, i have been given various anxiety meds including amitriptyline although it was low dose 20mg per day, also tried citalopram and fluoxetine......they havent helped. I can relate to the stress thing but if thats the case how do you break the chain to stop the reaction!
I feel the only real option for me now is to have the damm thing removed
Hi and welcome. Im not a doctor but do have some experience. There is study that stress can cause nonbacterial cronic prostrites. There is a loop muscle in your butt that gets tense and can cause the symtoms and you are at the peak age group for this. It is treated with anxiety meds. Go to a prostate specialist again and mention this to him.
I wish you the best.
