Uncomfortable cheekbone.

2 years or so ago I was assaulted and my right cheekbone was broken. I was told I had a zygomatic fracture, I then recieved surgery to move the cheekbone back to its correct place. Since then I have noticed that the cheekbone isn't symmetrical with my left cheekbone and that the affected area of my face is uncomfortable and feels alien. The reason I now bring this up is because at the points of fracture i have been experiencing acheing pains and want to know weather the pains could be related to the small metal plates i had put in and if there are any surgical procedures I could get to fix both the appearance and pains?

Thank you, Adam

It is very possible that the fractured bone did not set properly and the assymmetry you talk about is bone callous or just a different angle of the cheek bone. It can be rebroken and reset by a good reconstructive plastic surgeon . However, you want someone who does a lot of this sort of thing. The other symptoms you describe are likely the result of damage to the infraorbital nerve that occurs routinely with facial fractures like you describe. This damage cannot be reversed and very often results in complete numbness on the cheek or unusual sensations when stimulated. This is not repairable in most cases. You must remember that you had a bone broken, and damage to your face. Perfect results may not be achievable, but improvement may be. Respectfully,

The range will likely be in the area of 5 thousand dollars.

Thank you fo your reply. I'm happy that it might be possible to have my cheek further repaired. I recently visted my doctor and was told that my cheek was too close to being in it's natural position and that I would most likely be denied further surgery. I really want to keep looking for options as the way I look has destroyed my self confidence and personality. How do I go about locating good reconstructive surgeons and then having interviews?

Because my doctor advised me I would likely be turned down for further surgery from an NHS hospital what sort of price range am I going to be looking at if I go private?

Thank you again, Adam
