There is a need for you to see a practicing plastic surgeon who can evaluate this scar. Occasionally, a Z-plasty can be done in an area to reduce the "stretching" effect, and then follow with a resurfacing laser to feather in the appearance of the scar with the surrounding skin. It is usually best to wait until after puberty as the scars can hyperpigment or keloid in a young child. There are ways to improve scars. I hope this helps. respectfully,

I don't think surgery would be the way to go. If you really want to try and lessen the appearance you can try laser, but I wouldn't opt for any surgery. Though I would definitely wait a while before choosing to do any type of treatment. Does your daughter ever say anything about the scar? Many times it doesn't bother anyone and it is sometimes best just to leave it alone. It is a hard choice to make. Best of luck.
