Could this be early MLC?

2 weeks ago my husband of 3 years told me that he didn't love me anymore.  He loved me in the morning so I don't understand.  I'm devastated.  He has just sold his business which he hated and now in a job for 3 weeks which he says he loves.  He is like a stranger.  2 years ago he wanted to move to the other side of the world now this.  He is 37 and this is his second marriage.  We have never had any problems before.  He wasn't sleeping the week he said it and hasn't really slept well since.  He said he is not depresssed and its not MLC but he can't explain why or when he started to feel like this.  He has agreed to counselling but I think it's just because he feels guilty and I asked him.  He is so cold and distant. There is no other woman so how do we recover when we don't know the cause.

Is it possible to just fall out of love?

Dear Button,

Sure it's possible to fall out of love, but the timing is suspicious, with his just selling his business, and getting out of a job he hated. He may have been thinking about starting everything a new, including his personal life, but more likely he's going through a rough patch, possibly a depression, and will settle down with time and/or treatment. You both very much need to understand the cause of this sudden change. I think counseling right now is essential, and I'm glad he's agreed to it.

Good luck!

Dr. P.

Thank you.  He tells me is he in depressed and his social life does not seem to suffer but there is something going on.  He is the same man except for totally stopping all affection/  It's like I'm some loose end he is clearing up.   Only that morning he said he loved me. All so strange and awful.

Thank you for the reply
