Snoring Partner

I always wondered how one is to survive in a marriage if the partner snores like a saw mill. Ear plugs and pinching the partner just keep both awake. Do people sleep in separate rooms eventually? At least that is what I did. Or is love supposed to conquer any sleep deprivation, decade after decade?
Just curious how other people deal with this.

yep, because snoring is actually a bad thing.  If you think about it a person has something that is causing him or her not to breath right, wether it be stuffed up nose, sleep apnea.  My little brother also snored, and it turned out that he had a tumor in his sinis, that wasn't cancer, but they took it out and snoring went away.  Snoring is usually an underlining health problem, and can cause heart troubles which as you stated your father died from a heart attack.  I would personally have a sleep study done to rule out anything happening while he is sleeping.

Thanks for all your comments. It sounds like whatever needs to be done should be out of concern for the snorer`s health. Makes sense!

My dad snores so loud that you can hear him in any room of the house pretty much and it's a big house.  My room is right under theirs and you can hear him every night.  I think my mom just kicks him or something if it gets bad or goes and sleeps on the couch in the living room.

My boyfriend will snore if he is in curtain positions.  He always snores on his back and sometimes when he sleeps on his sides but never when he lays on his stomach.  I like to cuddle when I sleep but if his snoring gets bad I just tell him to go roll over and lay on his stomach.

My husband " Saws logs" often, i  give him a push with my foot, he rolls over and he stops for mmmm.........................  2 minutes !!!  (im yawning now )   : O

He too is overweight and I believe he does have sleep apnea.  I often listen to his snoring ( how can I not? ! ) and suddenly there is a long..... pause, then a huge gasp for air with one LARGE snort
( making me jump! ) .  Then I stare at his chest seeing if it is filling with air ( just like watching your newborn making sure they are still breathing) and it does but, there are some long pauses, it makes me nervous.

He doesnt do it everynight, it seems to heppen when he is VERY tired. And sleeping hard.

Now that you bring this up, i think DH and I will be having a little heart to heart about going in to dr.

My girlfriend sent her husband for a 1 night stay at a sleep apnea clinic because of his snoring. They monitored him through the night . And now after his evaluation, they gave him a machine (cant think of what it is, sorry! ) to sleep with.

Maybe you could try that so you and hubby could get back in the same room!!

good luck !

I agree. The cause could be so many things you'd have to have him checked out with a doc to know wxaclt what and where the problem is. Perhaps you'll find out what the cure is and can sleep happily for once.

One other thing that could be the cause is my 5 year old daughter used to snore like an old man when she was younger.  We had her tonsils and adnoids removed, and it stopped completely.  Turns out her adnoids were so big that she could hardly breath out of her nose.

Hm, interesting...I always found if I am awake enough to push or pinch the husband, I will not sleep afterwards anyway. But in a marriage I guess even this can find a workable compromise...
My dad on the other hand used to snore pretty much throughout the night, louder than an eighteen-wheeler. I even once slept in the bathtub while being on vacation becasue there was no other room. In hindsight I believe he did have sleep apnea. One day he died of a heart attack although he was not overweight nor had any of the other symptoms. Thanks for your feedback.

my dad use to snore really really loud.  Turns out he wasn't breathing right at night, and actually would stop.  They had to put him on a machine at night while he sleeps so that he gets oxygen, and thus his snoring has stopped.  So you might look into sleep apniea.

When my partner starts snoringI  just wake him up so he stops. At least in my case my man snores only in certain positions when laying on the bed so I just make him turn over like a baby.

My dad on the other hand snores because he is overweight. He's been overweight almost his entire life. When he snores the whole house trembles like a leaf lol. My mom what she does is she starts puching him hard haha so funny. When she gets tired of not being able to sleep she send him to the other room or she leaves so they can both rest. They are already used to it and they love each other very much.I guess it's just a matter of getting used to the situation you are in if you cannot fix it.
