Well you can stay at a value resort.  For a family of 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant for 6 nights, 7 days and park passes it will cost about 1400 dollars depending what time of year you go.  You can get on their website and enter in the dates and how many people, and it will give you an amount.  Heres the other nice thing, you can put it on layaway.  200.00 deposit to make the reservation, and you have to have it paid within 45 days of your trip.

I like staying at the deluxe resorts because they have moneral attached to them.
At moderate and value resorts you either take a disney bus or drive.
which they all are nice.

That sounds really cool...they are so girley and love to get dressed up....Do they actually get to see the characters?? And what are some nice inexpensive places to stay?? I know it's gonna be costly to go but I'm always out to get a good deal and save as much as I can.
Do you fly or drive? I want to drive but hubby wants to fly. I am so terrified to get on a plane. You know that song by Alanis Morrisette "Ironic" about the guy getting on a plane the first time and it crashing.....that's me..so scared that if I do get on a plane it will crash...sounds silly but I'm just terrified to fly.....I think driving time is around 15 hours.

Your girls are at the perfect age to go to Disney.  My littlest girl is a little young (2.5), but we are going because our 5 year old is at a perfect age.  We will return when our youngest gets a bit older so she can have memories.

Oh heres something to remember.  They have this new thing where little girls can get primped up just like princesses.  They get their hair and nails done and if you pay a little more they get dress and crown and all that good stuff.

The sandra bullock movie is a tearjerker!!!!! I cried so much but it was a very good movie!!!

So how is downtown disney?  I haven't ever been there.  My parents wouldn't take us to that one because they said too many bars.  hehe
Must be nice that you only have a two hour drive to disneyland.  For us to get to Disney world it takes 14 hours by car, or 5 hours by plane.  To Disneyland it would take probably 3 days by car and 10 hours by plane.
So, can you figure out what state I live in??????????????
hehe

I don't know if it is still worth anything or not.  Check it out on ebay and see.
Hey heres a movie that you would cry your eyes out on.  Have you seen the new Sandra Bullock movie that is out on DVD now?  The Phenominon or something like that.  Great movie, but bring your tissues.

I know, I'm a sucker.  I cry over everything.  I yelled at my fiance because he rented Eight Below about the poor dogs that get abandoned in the storm.  I watched like 20 minutes of it and started crying and told him never to bring that movie into the house again.  I can't watch things like that.

I do remember the penis cover.  I have it also.  Is it still worth money?  Heehee.  I have a lot of expenses that need to be paid off.  My box is all mangled, I doubt anyone would give me money for it.

I haven't done Disney World--but I did go to Disney Land on my honeymoon.  It was pretty cool--I loved the rides and seeing all the charaters dressed up--I was never there when I was a kid....We ate at the ESPN sports Center--Downtown Disney--good food and got to see one of the shows taped--great for my husband.  We plan on going back in a year or so with our boys--my sister will be back in the States and more than likely in San Diego so only a two hour drive from there.  We stayed at the DisneyLand Hotel--so much fun even for adults.

oh and don't forget the most crowded.......hehe
That's okay though because I can't wait to see my girls faces when they see Cinderella for the first time.  Will be a magical moment.  Well worth the costs.

Heck ya south park is horrible.  My girls will never ever ever be able to watch that show.  I am with you on the Jesus one, my husband use to watch it sometimes, but when I saw the one about Jesus I blocked it.  I think some parents see it as a cartoon and don't bother watching it to see what it really is.

How old are your girls?

I have to agree with laura1977 about South Park! It is an awful show. Kenny gets killed every episode and the language is very very bad! I watched it when they first came on but after an episode with Jesus, I turned it off and never watched it again. My kids will never watch that show!
As far as Disney, they're are some that are just heartbreaking but most are okay for children. My girls as into the princess movies as well. My son rarely watches anything as he is active in sports and would rather play outside than watch a movie.
As far as Disneyworld, we are planning a trip next year. I am excited and so are the kids. It is, after all, the happiest place on earth!!!!

Oh mami1323 you are so silly.  about the disney movies.  hehe

Oh but wait you are wrong about Little Mermaid................... don't you remember when it first came out on VHS, that the front cover had a penis hidden in it?  They discontiued that cover, but I still have it.  It use to be worth a couple of hundred dollars since they changed it.

I totally agree about some of the Disney Movies, I get so emotional because a lot of the movies the parents are killed or taken away.  It is sooooo sad, I remember watching bambi at such a young age and crying because bambi's mother was killed.  Dumbo had me in tears when his mom was in a cage and she swung her little dumbo in her trunk and sang to him.  Ugh!!!! So sad.  It didn't get better, Tarzan the little baby gets eaten by a tiger, Lion King, dad gets killed by his brother.  The only ones that weren't sad like that were Aladdin (one of my favorites because of Robin Williams), Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty.  There are a ton of others.  But it did always make me angry that the movies were like that.

Laura - I hear ya about the Maui plane fare, it must have been expensive.  I think going away with the kids is so fun.  I want to do a family trip to Puerto Rico.  My fiance's family live over there so we tend to stay with them to avoid paying for hotels.  I would like to go back to Disney, hopefully when the baby is older so he can remember.

I saw you let your kids watch south park?  Have you ever sat and watched South Park with them?  That was one that my parents blocked with parental control.

My husband and I are very careful of what our daughters watch, and wear.  Heck we went shopping one day for jean shorts for our 5 year old, well we went to Old Navy first, and their shorts were the type that were as my mother would say "too much mattie, not enough shorts"  We ended up paying 3 times more for shorts from Dillards just because they were longer.

One thing about Disney is the people that do the movies now, aren't the same that did the movies when Walt Disney was alive.
Our daughters like Cinderella and all the stuff to do with princesses, just because they have beautiful dresses on.
Bambi the movie, gotta say I love that movie.  My husband is a hunter though, cause he is from the country so the killing of Bambi's mom isn't too big of a deal with us.

The one thing that we don't allow our kids to play with are Bratz.  As I just feel they are too trashy.  Barbie's aren't getting much better.
My husband is the type of person that would rather go to South Dakota then to Disney any day, but he is looking forward to seeing it for the first time.
Next trip we are off to Jamaca man...  We were going to do that this year, but it is such an issue with getting passports right now so we aren't doing it till probably next year.

The one place that we do go each year is to Smokey Moutains.  The problem with that though is Pigeon Forge has gotten out of hand.  It seems like it is just one big Panama City there.  We took our daughters there and stayed in the cabin where we stayed on our honeymoon.

Laura - I didn't say Disneyworld was sexualized.  I said Disney enterprises.  Their movies are extremely violent,  and the lead characters are very sexualized.  And they're for children.

And no,  we don't ever plan on vacationing there,  largely because my husband can't stand concrete and crowds and all 2 of my kids were terrified of costumed characters when they were small.  So we steered clear.

And my kids had a lot of the disney videos,  the ones that weren't impossibly girly - because I have only boys - so it's not like I'm a big prude.  They also watch South Park and all the classic horror movies (the classic ones,  Hitchcock,  etc.,  not the chop movies like Saw and Friday the 13th,  etc.)

I think the Disney movies are very off-putting.  Most of the ones of the last 20 years have extremely sexualized male and female leads,  the families have only one parent and often that parent is killed in a horrific and memorable scene,  and often the child actually causes the death of the parent.  Gads!!   Even in the old Disney classics, the child is parentless and defenseless in the face of a very threatening world.

Think of the horrible scenes - the death of the Mufasa,  the death of Bambi's father,  the death of the toymaker by a hitman while the little mouse girl cowered in a closet in Great Mouse Detective.  Where was her mother to begin with,  and now she has NO parents!

I have kind of shocked other parents with what I'll let my kids watch movie-wise,  and I don't think they've ever been as disturbed as they are watching Disney stuff.

Ah well.  Carry on.

I loved going to Disney growing up.  It was alot of fun.  I as you stated didn't become more sexual from going there.  Heck I was one of those girls that didn't like the attention I got from guys.
We also use to go to Maui every year day after Christmas for 2 weeks.  That was great too.  I am looking forward to taking my family there, the plane fair is outragous though.  If I remember right the plane fair was about 1300 per person last time I checked into it.
I am going to make reservations at Narcosis here in a bit.
My parents always liked going to tea at Grand Floridean.  That was their little hour get away from us kids on our vacation.  haha
I think it is important to travel with our kids.  My husbands parents never took them anywhere, and he hates that he couldn't see things growing up.  Heck he's never even seen the ocean yet, so we are going to rent a car one day we are down there and head over to Daytona Beach so he can see it.

Narcosis is casual, I know the place you are talking about and no you don't have to dress up for this one.  They have great seafood. Disney is a wonderful place for children, it teaches about different cultures at Epcot, it is also extremely entertaining for children.  I really don't think little girls sit and watch the disney movies and go gee, that girl is over sexualized.  It is enjoyment for the entire family and the women in costumes aren't showing cleavage or being sexual in any way.  I think it's a wonderful place to take the family.

oh come on now.  r u serious?
do you have a television in your home, because heck sex is all over that.
we do go on trips to other places that are calm, but every child should be able to experience the disney experience.  has nothing to do with sexual stuff heck my girls are 2 and 5.  they want to see mickey mouse and donald duck.
If you are talking about Disney Movies and shows sexualizes girls, then yes they do but so does every other show that you can possibly watch.
Sex sells, but heres the thing my daughters aren't going to dress like sex objects, and are conservative in what they do.  This is because no matter what is out there, we as parents teach them right from wrong.
My husband is probably one of the strickest dads out there.  So, I don't think disney is going to sexualize my little girls without his approval.

My favorite thing about Disney is that I've never been there and never will be.  ;D

Also,  I hate shopping malls and strip centers and Outlet Shopping Centers.    We vacation at lakes and rivers and beaches and mountains.  In cabins where you can hear crickets and look up and see rural skyline stars,  the amazing MilkyWay.    And sit together as an extended family and play board games,  and chat and throw frisbees and waterballoons and swim in the lake.

Disney enterprises have sexualized girls in ways most of us don't recogninze.

Now Narcosis, is that the restaurant that you have to dress up?  I know that there is a steak restaurant at Grand Floridean that you have to dress up a bit to go to?  My husband hates dressing up so we can't go to that one.  Only to the ones where he can wear his jeans.
I remember one year we went to coral reef restaurant and we had terrible service so my father didn't tip the waiter.  Well the waiter decided to add a 50.00 tip onto my fathers card.  My dad got it off there, and the guy got fired.  haha.
Did you ever go to the Buena Vista shopping center?  The have a great bakery there.  yummy.
We are flying down there, it will take about 5 hours total to get there.  Not too bad.
What we use to do was my brother and I would go to Space Camp for a week, then our parents would pick us up and we would head down to Disney.  Man were those the days.  Living off parents.  haha
That Italian Restaurant is going to re open with different owners though.  That has happened to them before.  The owners before the ones that just owned it, it was really good then.  The guy that plays the accoridean, he knew my father by name from us going down there so much.  I doubt if he is still there though.  Big guy with a tummy on him.  Kind-of bald on top.   Real Italian.

We are doing the character breakfast at Grand Floridean the second morning we are there, and then the character breakfast at the Polynesian.

Yeah it's very expensive.  Narcosis in Grand Foridean has great seafood.  You should try it.  You have to do a character breakfast.  Your girls would love it.  They have a few at different hotels.
