Anyone's turn out to be cancerous?

Hello everyone,
I'm a 41 year old non-smoker and a 1 cm lung nodule was discovered after I had an MRI on my neck for a car accident.  I've been reading through the subpleural nodule posts and it appears that none have turned out to be malignant.  I'm seriously wondering if follow-up testing is even necessary for me.  I have yet to see any that have actually been cancerous.  Thoughts?  (By the way, I don't mean to be nonchalant about testing - the fact is that I'm self-employed and have no insurance - so I pay out of pocket.)

I guess the thing to do is to have a follow-up x-ray in six months to see if there is an increase in size. A nodule can be the remnants of a healed infection. this was true in my brother's case.

Oops - my "Anyone's turn out to be cancerous?" post was supposed to go in the "Subpleural Nodule" lung forum.  Sorry if my post was confusing here.
