Breathing problems - help!

I have had breathing difficulties for about 3 weeks now that come and go and have just been putting it down to a cold or something.  But its getting worse and I can't sleep at all (definitely worse at night or when laying down).  Its like I can't get enough air and my exhale is very shallow.  My chest also sounds really hollow and I can hear funny noises.  Also last night getting lots of sharp pain on both sides of my chest.  Can't get doctors appointment until Tuesday and am worried I might have something bad.  Any ideas? could i have chest infection (although I have no cough?) or ashma?  Please help!

hi, good to hear that peak flow meter reading was fine. Yes, wheeziness can cause lot of discomfort, especially when you lie down. Just let me know the names of the pumps prescribed to you. I am sure proper technique as to how to use inhaler (pump) was explained by your doctor.

hi, Just to let you know I went to the doctors, and she checked my chest and I did a peak flow meter reading and everything seemed fine but she said she could hear I was wheezy and said this could be due to allergents/dust and that she has given me a temporary pump for 10 days to see how I go.  Just cant' believe a bit of wheeziness could make me feel so bad! thanks for your reply. K

hi, it requires proper clinical evaluation and investigations to come to a diagnosis. It could be chest infection, asthma or could also be pulmonary congestion (Pulmonary edema). Please get back after your doctor has evaluated and made a diagnosis. Try sleeping with head end of your bed raised.
