Can you inhale something to your lungs without noticing it (without coughing?)

2 days ago, I was crying while eating. I inhaled, but didn't realise there was still a piece of meat (chicken) in my mouth. I inhaled it, and it got sucked into my throat. Is it possible that, although I didn't really have to cough, it still went to my lungs? Or can it go to your stomach, even if I was inhaling so my windpipe was open?

And if it did went to my lungs, how long would it take to get symptoms of the pneumonia I would get? It has now been 2 days.

Thanks in advance.
