Brownish Black mucus in mouth and all over teeth and tongue with BAD odor!

I am a 21 y/o female who does not smoke, last night I did not eat anything out of the ordinary or drink anything out of the ordinary.  At approx. 1 a.m. I got up to take a pepto bismol due to a very upset stomach.  My breath did not smell before I took the pepto bismol and shortly after I  took it I went back to sleep.  At 4:30 a.m.  I woke up thinking my bowels were going to explode and I went to the bathroom and nothing happened besides urination. When I got up I had to spit a "loogie" and when I did it seemed to be brownish black.  I looked in the mirror and my entire mouth was covered in this mucousy phlegm.  My tongue, molars, down my throat, everything was covered.  Not to mention the putrid odor that came along with it.  Like I said I did not eat anything out of the ordinary and I did not drink anything I don't normally drink.  I had 2 bottles of water and some fries and a piece of a steak stromboli. It definitely however did not look or seem to be steak, because I did not throw up.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem also but what's bugging me is the foul rotten taste I have in my mouth is it from the black stool?

funny thing, i actually have almost the same stats as you-20y/o female doesn't smoke, same symptoms, etc.... anyway, it's from the pepto bismol you guys. i was going to go into the ER. then, i remembered something about this before and looked it up online. i couldn't find anything, so i called pepto themselves & they told me it can turn your saliva and stools black. it's totally normal and there is no reason to see a doctor!

I came here with these symptoms - brown mucus on tongue and teeth when I woke up and OMG - I chewed pepto last night before bed because I had felt queasy.   Thank you.  Can't be a coincidence.

I would consider digested blood from stomach bleeding. It could be from an ulcer of something more serious. Go to the doctor right away.
