I Seem to have having breathing difficulties

This might not be the right forum for my problem.
About 4 months ago I developed this condition where as I could not breath properly and because of that was coughing to comfort myself. I also sometimes get aching and burning sensations in my chest lungs. I went to my doctor and she diagnosed me with Asthma (never had breathing difficulties in my life). So I was bombarded with a selection of inhalers and pumps and a nebuliser. I used these for a couple of weeks thinking that these are bound to kick in at some point but never did. One morning my condition got so bad that my sister had to phone the ambulance. When I was in the hospital, the doctor there took, 2 blood samples (one from veins and other from artery) and a chest x-ray. After spending the whole day there, the doctor informed me that he could not find anything wrong with me, my lungs are in working order and I was getting enough oxygen in the blood. i m a very occasional smoker and drink couple or small bottles of Guinness a day. I haven’t smoked for at least two weeks now and things haven’t got any better.  I really don’t know where to turn to now. Do you think I’m allergic to something? Please help.

Take a little time to look up excessive dynamic airway collapse, I also was told I had asthma at the age of 40 and anxiety.. as it turns out I did have asthma but my more critical problem was,   Excessive Dyanmic Airway Collapse  and my breathing issues though they are still pretty reactive to a variety of things I have not had my airway collapse since the tracheoplasty.

Air hunger is one of the most frightening of symptoms.

Sometimes it takes a while for even competent physicians to figure out exactly what is going on.

Total elimination of drinking abd smoking is a step in the right direction. Many beers contain sulfates, which are known to trigger such symptoms. I'm not sure is Guinness is in that category.

A vist to an allergist would be a step in the right direction.
