LUNG COLAPSED

Hello, and i hope that you can guide me into the light of relaxation abit as for the last year i am completly paranoid regarding my health due to the fact that last nov my lung just collapsed without warning and i was not involved in an accident... Iam so healthy, like climbing weekly, eating so well, no drugs and no drinking and no health problems before.. Im now 31 and just cant get it out of my head,it was my right lung that collapsed and it hurt all down my arm and back, itr was awful and i thought i was going to die!!! Do you know why this would happen to me? My family are all strong too, never any cancers or lung things before, now i heard that it could happen again, ohhh im so scared to go back in hospital and have that sharp thing put in my lung whilst awake, its cruel...
Please the docters here Greek and i couldnt comunicate well with them...Is there something medically wrong with me, is now my right lung weaker, will i did from my lungs...

I am sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! That was definitely not my intention, I just wanted to give you an example what happened to my friend and what the doctors did for him. The one thing I would do is to talk to your doctors about this to get an idea as to where you should go from now, what activities they recommend, tests if any, etc ...That is what I would do. Sunny

Are you a thin, tall male? Believe it or not, this sometimes happens to males of this description. A friend of mine suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax (lung collapse) while lifting weights. Apparently he had a bleb, or blister filled with air, on his lung and it burst collapsing his lung, he is also very thin and tall. No doubt this is a scary event. A chest tube insertion still makes me cringe (I had one done after a biopsy while under, it hurt like hell)  Did you have any imaging of your lungs besides a chest xray? I can't tell you if this will ever happen to you again, odds are probably not but I am not a doctor. You should discuss your fears with your doctor, perhaps have follow up tests to see what may have caused this in your lungs and if there is, what treatment needs to be done to prevent any further lung collapses. My friend ultimately had what is called a pleuradesis, where the doctor put talc on the bleb, as a result that area tacked itself to the chest wall sealing it shut so that it wouldn't collapse again.
I hope that this helps...Sunny
