Thanks so much for your reply. I had ended up in the emerg atthe local hospital a few weeks ago not able to breathe, the only thing they found was that my wbc count was extremely high and my lungs were inflamed. I have since been referred to the local internal med clinic, my appointment is tomorrow. I know that my wbc count had returned to normal when I had my levels checked last week, although the shortness of breath has continued (although much worse at the moment, as my children picked up some sort of bug at daycare that has had all of us coughing and wheezing for a few days now).
Again, thanks.
Sincerely,
Michelle
This could sometimes be due to small airway disease. They show a normal lung function tests with decreased oxygenation. Diseases affecting the small airways are difficult to detect by traditional diagnostic tests. Lung function tests become abnormal later in the disease. But at all times the oxygen saturation should be maintained above 88%. Discuss with your doctor regarding supplemental oxygen therapy.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
