Hey.. I have the exact problem always yawing just to make it easier to breathe its SOOO uncomfortable.. i have never smoked and im not pregnant and I don't drink coffee so i think and believe this is anxiety and stress thing because i only do it in the day at work....

It because we are stressed we only use the top put of our lungs and that is subsequently the smallest part of our lungs if u breathe from you stomach it settles u down and u get a better breathe.

Im yet to perfect my belly breathing take a while to get u stomach to get used to it.. 85% of ppl breath like this.....ITS NUTS!!!!!!

Obviously some ppl do have asthma which that doesn't really help the situation but if u have had tests like me and nothing asthmatic has come up this is your answer :) (hopefully)

I don't know when exactly this started happening but it happened periodically when I was much younger.  Basically something triggers me to want to yawn...I'll drawn in a deep breath and attempt to yawn but I am unable to get enough air in to trigger a yawn.  I feel a tightness in my chest.  I am able to yawn (it feels like a compulsion to yawn once I get it in my head that I need to) only after drawing 2-5 mini breaths and then forcing enough air into my lungs but it is a bit painful and also kind of a relief.  Things that help are sitting up very straight and lifting my arms over my head.  I don't know what this is all about.

I'm told by some a panic attack- in my case likely caused by Caffeine- I responded to one Dr. by saying that I don't feel panicked or anxious about anything but she believed it was still possibly the case.  I am trying to cut our or at least cut down on caffeine (mostly green tea in my case).  Someone else (not a Dr. but someone whos opinion I trust) suggested it might be diet related as it does seem to often occur after I eat.  I have had a history of binge eating and still generally speaking eat too quickly...two days of eating slowly and lightly and no results there.  Another possibility is my love of club soda- someone else suggested it might be too much carbonation...

I'm not really sure what to make of it but I figure I'll try removing a few different things in my life I can live without.

I had allergies as a kid, this is....different.
