lung nodules and discomfort

I was diagnosed with lung nodules, one new on my left lung measuring 5mm and an old one that grew to 8mm on my right lung. I can't get in to see a pulmonologist until may 29 and now I am getting discomfort upon inhalation. I used to smoke for 22 years and just quit 8 months ago. Should I be concerned? The only images they have of my lungs are the lower lungs due to an abdominal ct. There are no images of my thoracic region. Any help would be great.

I believe it is possible to get a biopsy off lung nodules using a needle, and it is an "out patient" process, not a big deal to recover from, I believe.  I have never had such but my wife did about 6 months ago. Best I can recall she didn't have any difficulties - was back to normal the same day.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. Any other tests like spirometry were done? This helps to detect if your problems with inhalation are due to causes like Asthma or COPD. Your doctor may ask for a Chest CT to get a complete picture. Also, only a biopsy of the nodule can give a confirmatory diagnosis.

Now if your symptoms worsen or if you develop additional symptoms like cough or fever, consult your primary care physician for an evaluation. Take Care.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
