I was struggling with the insomnia and leg issues too. My midwife had me start taking Natural Calm which is a magnesium supplement. I have been sleeping much better and no more leg issues. You can find it at health food stores or on-line. It says you can take 2-1/2 tsp but start with 1/2 tsp and gradually move up. I take it at night before bed in a warm cup of water. The lemon raspberry is yummy. My midwife did say to slowly taper off of it after 32 weeks. They don't want you taking magnesium close to labor.
I have this to the point it makes me cry not for the pain but the annoyance of not being able to sleep and like you by the time i fall asleep it's time to get up, first off i was having like 4 or 5 baths throughout the night untill it finally stopped them now i put a pillow between my legs and a hot water bottle aswell between my knees and ankles it works, it's the heat that stops my legs going crazy, good luck i never had this with my other pregnancies which i am so thankful for as it is really anoying
I have had this really bad with all of my pregnancies. I find using a pillow under or between my legs helps some
Hey there,
thankfully I don't have restless leg syndrome this time round! I had it before and OH MY GOD! it was annoying! I also suffer from insomnia at the moment too though so I am with you there, I am also just over 9 weeks! (hopefully) Anyways, I used to try a hot water bottle and things like that, right on your skin or a heat blanket, just for your legs though. The reason being, the restless leg syndrome is usually a sign of bad circulation! haha, something that simple i though to myself for all this hassle. Anyways, I hope that helped a little and I hope you get some sleep soon and your legs behave! good luck and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! :) x
I was having the same problems and i too suffer insomnia. I found a vitamin called melatonin. its the same thing found in turkey, thats why everyone gets sleepy or tired afterwards. i just take a 5mg tablet and put a pillow between my legs. i was out like a light the first time i took it.
