Can you pass on gonorrhea through saliva?

I had an intimate encounter with a man last weekend, and we performed oral sex, a few days later I developed symptoms that mimic those of tonsillitis. My tonsils are VERY swollen and have white puss covering them (my left increasingly more than my right), the back of my throat is irritated, sore and red. I had a fever and was bed bound for a couple of days and just felt as if I had tonsillitis.
This man then informed me yesterday that he had gonorrhoea but did not know at the time.
I am going to the doctors this afternoon but as I did not know, I have been sharing glasses of water and bottles ect with a friend.
Could I have passed any sort of infection on to them whilst doing this?
I am worried that I have and I'm hoping I will not have to tell them that 1) I caught gonorrhoea from a random bloke and 2) that they now have it because they drank from my glass of water.
If someone could please let me know ASAP that would be great.
