Genital warts on my 7 year old

Can you tell me what causes genital warts on a 7 year old child that says she hasn't been touch inappropriatly? I found out from her doctor today she has them and he says it can be spread through a wash cloth or even a toilet shared with someone.
                        Thank You

I was diagnosed with HPV when I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter, let me tell you I was so scared, I have done alot of reasearch, and have never heard that it can be transmitted by towels or anything else similar. my daughter is 4 years old, and has never gotten HPV, but I understand your worry because I too worry every day.

the very same thing as happened to my 3 yr old daughter. Doctor and Rape crisis center say there is no sexual misconduct and that she must have gotten the warts from my sister who does not live in our house but did baby sit for awhile. My doctor also told me that a towel, wash cloth or toliet was the culprit. I am becoming more convinced that this happens more than people want to talk about. I want help in getting my baby treatment that is not agonizing. We tried this treatment that blistered her so bad she couldnt walk for 2 days. Now of course she is very leery of letting a dcotor down there. Any advice is much appreciated.

You can get hpv in the genital area thru non-sexual means but it's not overly common.  I'd follow up on this with a pediatric dermatologist to make sure that it's really hpv and not actually molluscum contagiosum which is very common in children and is a little more easily transmitted among school age children.  Unless you are an experienced practioner it's easy to confuse the 2 of them.

Does anyone else in the household have genital warts?

the liklihood that genital warts on ur child came from wash cloth or toilet is HIGHLY unlikely.I think Dr.Hook and Dr.Handsfield under the doctors forum in this thread would agree.A lot of children will not admit someone has diddled with them due to fear, shame or person told them not too. This is very confusing for a child. Are u and doctor absolutely sure these are genital warts?have they been cultured to see what specific type?
