Are you an athlete? Do you wrestle? That's really the only time that you'd get hsv1 outbreaks on your hands, feet, etc.
Since you aren't responding to valtrex, and because its all over, you need to see your doctor, especially since you can't eat or brush your teeth. I'd go today.
If you don't have insurance, go to an instant or urgent care center and ask for uncompensated care.
You need to go though. I'd be VERY surprised if this was all herpes related.
Aj
Thank you very much for your insight. I did wrestle when I was a high school student, but that was 20 years ago. I did get mild cold sores then but the target lesions are new. I have only had one other outbreak like this. Also, I have contacted my doctor but when I called her about the continuing symptoms she mentioned I visit a dermatologist. That seemed strange. I feel like nobody is seeing the real problem. Is there a shot to help fix this? My lymph nodes are still swollen. Any other advice? I will call doctor again today.
Thanks
P.S. I apologize for the double post. I am new the website and was not sure where to post for medical advice from professionals vs. members.
I'm not sure why you are calling them target lesions. What does that mean?
You need to get those lesions cultured, and a dermatologist can do that.
There is no shot for herpes, but you need to find out if all this is even herpes going on.
Aj
please just pick this forum or the herpes forum so that jess and I aren't both giving you similar answers - thanks!

I already only commented for AJ. I am not interested in hearing your uptight responses.
Thank you
Thanks again. I am calling them "target lesions" because that is how my doctors have referred to them. I think they are called target lesions because they appear to have a circle with a bull's eye. I appreciate all of your help. I will continue with the Valtrex and keeping my mouth clean. Finger's crossed.
Thanks for everything, you have been super!
Ron
Hey now wait a minute.
Grace is a community leader on this board, along with myself, and she is extremely knowledgeable about herpes. She is also correct in saying that you need to pick one board and stick with it. I would have said the exact same thing had I noticed your duplicate posts before she did.
Target lesions aren't herpes lesions. Google target lesions and see what comes up. I got things like Lyme Disease, Erythema multiforme, etc. Since they are all over your body, I would suspect one of those long before I would herpes.
It is unfortunate that no one has cultured them yet. That should be the first thing they do.
