No STDs but prostatitis symptoms male only 25
Approximately 39 days ago (Sept 22, 2012) I had sex with a girl from one of my classes. I was using a condom but it broke during intercourse. I didn't ejaculate so there was no chance of pregnancy. I asked her if she had stds? she told me no. Then approximately 3 days after the encounter I was driving for about 3 hrs and I was felt this intense burning sensation in my urethra. It felt like I had an uti but whenever I stood up or lay on my back the pain is gone, also I can pee with no discomfort or pain. It only hurts while sitting for a prolonged period. Anyway I panicked and went to the health clinic one week after the encounter thinking it was an std. I got tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV. It all came back negative. The pain in my urethra continued. I informed the physician at the clinic, she gave me one dose of Zithromax 4x250mg however the pain continued. I then went to another doctor in urgent care because the pain was soo intense I could barely concentrate on anything. That doc gave me amoxicillin for urethritis, I tried it for a week and it didn't help. I then went to a urologist who diagnose me with prostatitis after doing a rectum exam. It was very painful and seem to have irritated my penis head. He then prescribed doxycycline for 30 days 2xdaily 100mg. I've been on this for 8 days now and have not experienced the slightest improvements. The urologist wants to put me on Cipro for 3 weeks, however 1 yr ago I took this for a suspected infection in my testicles, even though there was no infection in the end. The side effects I experienced from this drug were debilitating, my ankles, wrist, fingers and the back of my knees were in pain for months. I felt like an 90 yr old man. I'm just 25! I am worried because I don't want to take Cipro again and it doesn't help my pain in the urethra. I have alot of questions that no doc knows an answer.
How could I have developed the symptoms of prostatitis and my tests for chlamydia, gonnorrhea, syphilis were negative?
Could I have gential herpes? It's day 40 and I see no signs of that either.
I don't know what to do...should I keep taking doxycycline for another week? How long does it take to penetrate the prostate?
I'm just soo confused and worried! This is driving me crazy, I can't focus at work and I'm losing interest in alot of things I once enjoyed.

I've been retested and just got my test full STD panel back after 3 and half months post exposure and I am negative for HIV, syphillis, chlamydia and gonnerhea. My symptoms with the burning at the tip of my penis, neck pain, extreme fatigue and irritated throat have persisited for close to 4 months now. In my unprofessional opinion I think I have mono and trick. Im gonna take one dose of flagl and see if that helps. My herpes test was low positive and the symptoms would not have lasted this long without an outbreak. Just to confirm I will pay another $100+ to confirm or deny this with the WB HSV-2 kit. I don't know whats wrong with my body, I have never felt so miserable in my life. I've spent soo much on medication, doctor visits and testing. I'm losing my mind and my symptoms are affecting my daily life.
you wouldn't have symptoms of meningitis this long. they would've went away on their own even without treatment.
Just another thought. Could make neck and the back of head pain, nausea and fatigue symptoms be a sign of herpes simplex 2 viral menningitis even though I haven't had a classic herpes outbreak? These last 3 1/2 months have been miserable for me. I just ordered the WB kit from HSV-2 from the University of Washington. I just need to know what viral infection my body is fighting.

I visited the dermatologist couple weeks ago and she looked at my penis and said it did not look like herpes but balantitis. She gave me some mild hydrocortizone for 1 week and the redness and irritation has completely cleared up.
Persistent symptoms:
the penile pain continues while sitting, no discharge, I still have no swollen lymph nodes in my groin or armpit.
Recently my armpits just burns continuously while sitting and I feel extremely fatigue during the onset of the burning armpit.
The veins in my neck hurt occasionally, I haven't noticed any visible swollen lymph nodes and I do not have a fever. I check my temperature every day and night. The neck pain persist more behind my ear and the back of my neck. Also the area around my thyroid just feels sore.
I have lost a lot weight about 10 lbs since I October. I do not know if this is caused by anxiety and the stress of my condition. I've also grown paranoid of HIV recently since my tests were all outside the testing window and because that's all I've heard about this whole month of December on TV and all over the internet.
I'm going to do another full STD panel at the 4 month window which is in a couple of weeks. I'm just completely overwhelm by this condition and I just need an answer.

these sound like a fungal infection which is pretty common from antibiotic use.
your hsv1 igg was + as most adults is.
your hsv2 igg is a low positive and will need confirmed with further testing. your options are repeat the testing you had done 3 months post encounter or seek out a herpes WB blood test 4 months post encounter.
depending on your level of anxiety, I'd stop answering your calls too but I"m adult enough to come right out and say that. Just because someone stops taking calls doesn't mean because they are hiding something. sometimes it's because you are driving them nuts ;)

An update: I've finished a three week course of cipro for my prostatitis symptoms and I notice no improvements to my penile pain while sitting. Also since Oct. 17 I've notice some tiny pimples on my penis glans when I roll back the foreskin. It's on one side only. It doesn't hurt when I squeeze it to this date and it there appears to be no fluid in it. It only get irritated after I shower and dry myself with a towel. Then 2 hrs later the redness and pimples disappear, I have no swollen lymph nodes in the groin but whenever I sit I get this burning sensation around my anus and it runs all the way down to the back of my tighs. Sometimes I get these needle like pain sensations on my buttocks and scrotum. No doc has been able to tell what's causing my symptoms. The Urologist looked my penis last week and said it looked normal. I am going to see a dermatologist next monday. I'm just soo stressed out! By the way girl that I had the encounter with is no longer answering my calls because she felt I am accusing her of giving me something when she feels she didn't. This is freaking me out even more because if she didnt have something to hide why would she react like that, I just wanted her cooperate and see if we both have something that is driving me up the walls especially.
So I did an Herpes test and my results came back. I was tested positive for HSV-1 on the IgG with a score 7.4 and positive for HSV-2 on the IgG with a score of 1.43. I have never had a outbreak, but since the results I feel a tingle in my anus, buttocks, tighs and the head of my penis. I am freaking the hell out right now!
usually prostate infections aren't even std related. many bacterial and viruses that aren't "normal" when introduced into the urogenital tract and can cause infections.
So it is possible to rule out chlamydia and gonnorhea. I'm still showing no signs of these infections. Is possible though get a prostate infection from syphilis just three days from the encounter? I know it's not herpes because I have not had any outbreaks to cause an infection of the prostate. I'm planning to go get tested again for all these stds and HIV at the end of this week. I just want to know what infection that would cause a prostate infection after just 3 days from the encounter yet show no other symptoms of that std!!! Also I did not have oral sex with this partner. I talked to my Urologist and Primary Care Physician and they just want to throw Cipro on me for another 3 weeks. I know for a fact that I will be in worse pain than a prostate infection affecting my body joints over taking Cipro.
your gonorrhea and chlamydia testing was accurate 1 week post encounter. your syphilis and hiv testing wasn't. you need to wait at least 6 weeks for syphilis testing and 3 months for hiv testing. same as you should also test for trich and herpes . trich testing can be done after 1 week but herpes testing has to wait 3 months.

no, this doesn't sound at all like genital herpes going on either.
should you continue the medication? give the provider a call and let them know that you aren't feeling any better a week into treatment for more advice.
