So I am a bit worried, as I have been sick lately with cold like symptoms, followed by pinkeye. When doing a google search, I found that my symptoms also related to that of oral gonorrhea. I have been sexually active with a new partner - last week performing unprotected oral on her. I am unaware as to whether or not she would have this disease. Here's my following symptoms.
7 days after oral contact, I developed a soreness in my throat, the next day the pain was fairly intense and it hurt to swallow. I took some Mucinex and the pain went down a little.
The following day I had a runny nose and congestion all over, and felt light headed like a cold. Throat is still very sore. I began taking Dayquil which quickly and significantly improved my symptoms.
A couple of days later, I find that my sore throat and symptoms are lessening, and that I only need one dose of dayquil at most. My throat is still slightly sore and full of mucus, though very very mild. I also still have a runny nose. However, I now have a case of pinkeye with yellowish mucus present and swelling of the eyelids. (I was also checking my throat for white patches, and in the process stuck my fingers back there and could have inadvertently touched my eye)
The information I found online suggests that oral gonorrhea can also cause eye infections, and be confused with a cold. Admittedly, I am a bit of a hypochondriac at points, and there is also a cold virus running around those I know, including my partner. I have scheduled an STD test with Planned Parenthood in two days just to be safe. In your opinion, how likely is it that I could have contracted this disease?
