Persistent urethritis, without any diagnosis or treatment.

32 year old gay male here.

5 months ago, I received oral sex.
2 or 3 days afterwards, I started to experience occasional stings, or shooting pains in my urethra.

A few days after that, a noticeable, but bearable pain when urinating (mostly at night).
A few days after that, a couple of days with a small amount of puss discharge.
Went to doctor and was treated with Azithro and the shot, as he suspected Gono.

The burning and irritation subsided after a few days (the discharge only happened on 2 days before I received the treatment.

After that, I would experience occasional, sharp stings at the tip of my urethra (sometimes once or twice a day, sometimes days without any symptoms).
Went back to doc. He said swab test for Gono and Chlam were negative. He said this could be because I had Cipro in my system, which a previous doctor had prescribed a few days before).
He did another swab test for the other STI’s:
Syph, Ureaplasma, Micoplasma, Trich, Fungus.
These all were negative.

20 days after issues started, they went away for 30 days.
They then started up again one day. Occasional sting in urethra, with or without peeing, an electrical static feeling, tiny amount of clear discharge.
Went back to doc the next day (and I felt no symptoms) and he gave me Azithro again, and no swab.

Stinging persisted (tho again, maybe once or twice a day, or a few days in between with nothing)

After 10 days, I took Doxy for 10 days. At the end of this treatment, which didn’t really seem to help, the symptoms went away.  During this time, I had full STD tests again. All negative. (all tests have been swabs, one urine test for Chlamydia).

3 weeks later they recurred, 2 weeks later, went away (no treatment), 2 weeks later, came back again.

Saw urologist who had no idea, but prescribed me Cefixime and Metronidazole for ten days.

No difference.

I’ve now been on Moxifloxacin for 5 days, but no difference either.
I’ve since been tested for Herpes, which is negative.

Where I am at currently, is I am experiencing:
VERY occasional after-pee burn (maybe once or twice every 2 weeks)
Sharp string at the tip of uretha – usually mild, lasts a second, tho sometimes it feels like an electric shock travelling up my Urethra
Sensitive opening, especially when walking about and the friction of my underwear.
Sometimes a small amount of clear, sticky discharge

So:
I’ve taken all these anti-biotics which should cure all sorts of STIs.
I’ve been tested at least 3 times for every standard STI, always negative.
Symptoms seem to resolve themselves for a few weeks, before returning.

Questions:
If I did not have discharge at the time of the swabs, would the tests still be accurate? Is it worth getting re-tested (for a fourth time) the next time there is discharge?
Could this be caused by e-coli? I am not sure why doctors don’t test for this in men, as I’ve read it can be passed on orally and cause urethritis, except that I don’t have other feelings of sickness, discoloured urine, or bad smells. Is it worth getting tested? Most info on the internet is relating to women.

My primary concern here, since the symptoms aren’t that terrible, is that I am no longer a sexually healthy young man, which is quite a burden to live with – I don’t want to date or anything as I don’t want to say ‘I may have an untreatable and un-diagnosable infection’, and get rejected.

If all STD tests have come back negative repeatedly, can I in good conscience tell somebody I am ‘clean’ ? Considering that this started as a result of getting oral sex.

I can’t really take more antibiotics at this point, it is ridiculous.

Also, to pre-empt any suggestions
1. This NOT in my head, and is NOT brought on by stress. It recurs when least expecting it.
2. I am not constantly ‘milking’ my urethra to check for discharge
3. Masturbation frequency plays no role here.

Thanks!
