Question

How likely will it be to contract genital herpes from giving oral sex to an individual known to have HSV-2? I am pretty sure I have HSV-1 (Oral herpes) but not 100% sure. I've gotten blister type bumps on my lips before.

I guess what I'm asking will I get HSV-2, down there, from giving oral sex to someone that already has it?

Yes, it is believed that it is unlikely for a person to get oral herpes from giving oral sex.  Actually, if you have hsv-1 and the other person didn't have either one, it was much more likely that you could have given them genital herpes from the hsv-1. This is how it is believe many of the new cases of genital herpes are contracted.

But it's true, you could just have the flu.  Best to go to your doctor to ease your concerns.

It's rarely caught oral, you already have hsv-1.. So no catching it orally ,I wouldn't stress over it..

Based on all the reading I have done. It's really rare to catch hsv-2 orally and also seeing that you already have hsv-1 it would be extremely low for you to catch HSV-2 orally...
