Given your history, I'd be surprised if this truly is a true result. If you had any kind of different background, I'd be telling you that you probably have syphilis, but with your history, and your wife being negative, I can't see how you got it, unless you aren't being honest with us or yourself about cheating.
Even if you've had oral sex with someone else, its possible.
If that hasn't happened, I'd have to say either the lab messed up your sample with someone else's (bad news all around), or you have a true false positive, which is rare since both were positive.

Aj, there is no reason to be dishonest in this anomimous forum. The other posibility is that I got it from my parents or I have another blood desease and my 2007 results were a "false-negative". Still the question of why my wife has been always negative remains.
Right - none of it really adds up to a complete picture.
Do you have the result of the RPR? Do you know the numerical value? It will say something like 1:48, 1:256, etc - your number will be different but its always a 1:something.

Test again in a few weeks, as the doctor suggested, and if its an active infection, that second number will have increased.
I have reported myself to the Local health authority per the immigration licensed physician advice (Again, My primary physician said it was too premature to report). I did it because they told me that the LAB would report the results within days, and I don't want to geopardize my family greencard process. I have been losing a lot of sleep, I am stress out and not been productive at work, my wife has been a great support in all this mess. I can't understand why the results came like this. I have researched a lot and found something that you might be able to clarify. I actually tool 2 tests for RPR test, the first one was 1:1, I decided to take a second one 2 days later, same immigration Dr office, result was 1:2. The FTA-ABS came from the first one, but did not show any numerical value; i.e. the fluorescent intensity level. It says "reactive..Verified by repeat analisys" that is no more details. I am starting to wonder if they actually made the test or didn't do it due to they had 2 reactive RPRs. Thanks again.
Just getting "reactive" back on a test doesn't mean they didn't do it. It just depends on how the lab reports the results.
Testing the next day was probably a waste of time, but I'm sorry you are so stressed. I wish I had more to offer you, but my advice from before still applies.

It is almost midnight. I just got a call from the immigration Dr. The FTA-ABS for the second test was non-reactive. It was not a waste of time after all. He said that I must cancel my meeting with the public health authority. The Lab made a mistake in the first test. I have learnt during these days that once a person FTA-ABS is reactive, it will remain reactive for life; that confirms that the initial results was an error. I can sleep better now. I might test third time just for the records.
Thanks for your help.
Oh awesome - I am glad I was wrong. :)
Congrats!
