Finally it happened as i afraid...Herpes-1 positive....am with STD.... feeling ashamed...

Can I have unprotected sex? Can i kiss? oral sex? Is there  a way to avoid transmitting this to my partner? will this be transmitted to my child too ? Can i get married and live a normal sexual life? I had sex only once in my life time.Could herpes be transmitted only by kissing and oral sex? Or is there any other way i could have got it?

Basically i am from india. In our country the culture is different from other countries. All the girls expect that the guy should not have sex before and he should not even kissed any other girl. I am single and i dont have a girl friend....So my parents suppose to look a girl for me for marriage. I cant tell the girl that i kissed a girl and got this disease....she wont accept at all...Either I have to hide my herpes-1 or should remain as single for ever...

If there are any Indians in this Forums, they could understand my situation better...

I am direction less. What to do? Please advise.

I am sending my lab report below. All other STDs came negative...Herpes >5.0..

HEPATITIS B SURFACE ANTIGEN NON-REACTIVE NON-REACTIVE  QHO
HSV 1 IGG, HERPESELECT TYPE  >5.00 index QHO
Index                  Interpretation
1.10                  Positive
This assay is type specific and will differentiate
between HSV-1 and HSV-2 infections. A single positive
result only indicates previous immunologic exposure
and the level of antibody response may not be used
to determine active infection or disease stage. The
test should be repeated in 4-6 weeks when negative or
equivocal results are obtained in suspected early
herpes simplex disease.
The performance of this assay has not been established
for pediatric populations, for neonatal screening, or
for the testing of immunocompromised patients.

HIV 1/2 EIA AB SCREEN NON-REACTIVE NON-REACTIVE  QHO
A Nonreactive HIV-1/2 antibody result does not
exclude HIV infection since the time frame for
seroconversion is variable. If acute HIV infection is
suspected, antibody retesting and nucleic acid

It is fine if the timing is off by a couple of days. I am sure your test results will come back negative since this was a low risk exposure. If the results came back as negative for all the STD's in the previous post, the results are absolutely negative and conclusively negative.

I heard that the testing window period is 3 months for HIV and Herpes.I am getting tested tomorrow. Its 84 days(short of 6 days for 3 months) since i have unprotected oral sex and a  condom slip(not sure whether i reinserted after the slip). If the result came as negative for all the STDs (mentioned in my previous post) does it mean that the result is conclusive negative?

I thought it is that. There must have been a typo on both of our responses. Yes, as long as it is certified by either Quest Labs or Labcorp, you can be sure that they are reliable.

Unprotected oral sex is low risk for std transmission but it is commendable that you are keeping yourself aware by planning to get tested. I do not know about www.gettested.com but there are some online std testing sites that tend to blow "hot air" about what they do but if you are looking for some good sites, try personallabs or justgettested.com. Otherwise, just going to the nearby clinic is the best route for you can get tested and get knowledge about what is what about stds.
