Doxycycline is not reliable against gonorrhea no matter how long you take it. For chlamydia or NGU, you really need to take the full 7 days.
If you need more information than this, it would be best to start a new thread. I won't have anything more to say in this one, and most of the forum regulars don't look at new comments in such old threads.
Hi -- Will doxy be effective if I stop after four days?
Yakult seems to be a brobiotic yogurt, so yes, it should/could be enough.
You might want to consider alternating between that and another probiotic that has another set of beneficial bacteria.
I would suggest you drink this on a regular basis... but as I said, leave about 3 hours before or after you took Doxycycline and continue with probiotics after you finished with Doxycycline.
Make sure to avoid lying down for 30 mins after taking Doxycycline as that could irritate the stomach if I'm not mistaken.
Although, sitting down is fine.
Mr/ms deskman I realy appreciate ur reply ..
Can yakult be enough.. ..maybe that's why my stomach is not feeling well after taking docxycline. thanks for the advice. I will wait fir your reply regarding with the yakult
One other thing I forgot to mention.
Doxycycline is a powerful antibiotic... you should definitely take probiotics with live cultures (yogurts packed with good bacteria such as acidophilus lactobacillus) in order to offset any potential problems in your gut.
The effects of antibiotics can take a long time to be flushed out of the system - up to 2 years.
You definitely want to take the probiotics to repopulate the gut with healthy bacteria.
Also... make sure to take these probiotics at least 2 or 3 hours BEFORE OR AFTER taking Doxycycline.
Since you are taking Doxycycline pills twice per day... best would be to take probiotics sometime in between.
And make sure to keep up with probiotics for some time after Doxycycline treatment is finished
It should be enough.
The duration is key, but I would surmise a full week on Doxy will be enough.
Follow your doctor's recommendation on how long to take it and you should be fine
Thanks to your comment..its very helpfull ...my doctor gave me doxycycline twice a day ...but don't know if its enough to cure my g........ and c.......... thanks by the way
I don't see what the problem is about providing information which is available online for others as well.
You should do your own research, but, yes, Doxycycline CAN be used for treating Gonorrhea.
Its a wide-range antibiotic which to my (and my GP) knowledge covers all bacterial STD's:
Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, UreaPlasma, MycoPlasma and Trichomoniasis.
Dosage/duration depend on the type of infection, but all of these (except for Syphilis) can be treated with Doxycycline, 100 mg capsules, 2 capsules per day, each taken 12 hours apart - for 7 days.
Syphilis is usually treated with same dosage (if people are allergic to Penicillin), but the duration of the treatment is for 14 days (for primary and secondary stages), and if an infection lasted longer (or couldn't be narrowed down to a certain time frame), then 28 to 30 days (or basically a full month).
It is not recommended to self-medicate.
That, and overuse of antibiotics is not really desirable or needed.
Best bet would be to get tested for a full range of bacterial STD's and ascertain if you have something.
Can I play basketball when treating gonorrhea?
We don't give medication info
