A low grade chlamydia infection? That's a new one for me.
In any case, with your doctor being the way he is (and it sounds like its time for a new one), you might never figure this out.
I'm glad at least that he is treating your partner. That's something. You'd be surprised at how hard that can be sometimes.

So annoying...
went and saw him again. He tried to tell me that green is normal and nothing to worry about, that it might just be my bodies "natural color" even though it's never been this way before, and EVEN though i told him sex was uncomfortable...
I obviously wasn't happy with that. After I pressed him, he conceded by saying that perhaps I have a low grade chlamidya infection that vasnt picked up by the test? So he perscribed me a 10 day string of antibiotics for that, as well as for my partner...
UGH. why do I feel like I'm forcing my doctor to treat me for something, only to have him treat me by GUESSING?
well phew, I'm certainly glad to hear I don't have gonoreah...i really was certain I did and was NOT looking forward to having that unpleasent conversation with my partner.
AJ, I'm going to go with you on the possible staph infection...not that that's GOOD, but I've read a bit about it online and it seems that with the string of antibiotics I was on in the last year this could be a possibility. Either that or I DO have trich and the antibiotics he gave me didn't cure it...however without the odor present it makes me doubt trich is the culplrit...
sigh....this is looking like it's going to be a lot of trial and error before I get better...
I have no idea why they allow people to give out this info if they don't know what it is.
GC is gonorrhea.
So they did no other testing? Good luck today!
Aj
GC probably refers to Gonorrhea, since both tests are normally done together.
Okay, symptoms still present this morning...
I called and made an appointment for tomorrow morning at 930am :(
I asked the receptionist what I was tested for and she said "chlamidya and g.c." and she had no idea what "g.c." is...
does anyone here know what the hell that is?
Thank you, I will let you know. I'm really hoping that the antibiotics will treat whatever it is over night and have less symptoms tomorrow, but we'll see. I have a feeling that's just wishful thinking :/ I'll call if not.
To be honest, what infuriates me the most, is that in this day and age a doctor should be ENCOURAGING a young female for wanting to check up on her health, not acting surprised when she wants to be tested for stds, REGARDLESS if everything "looks normal". *shakes head*
Well, he might have done a wet mount, which looks for trich (which makes it even more intriguing that he treated you for an infection you don't have), yeast and bacterial vaginosis. A wet mount is a slide that they look at under the microscope and check for visible bacteria.
Its not something that they let grow to see what shows up. That's an endocervical or vaginal culture, and if that wasn't done, that needs to be your next step. You might have some staph or group b strep happening.
And you are right - it would make not a bit of sense if he tested you for chlamydia but not gonorrhea. Those tests are usually done together.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
Aj
I'm assuming that he only tested for chlamydia, but I'm not sure. That's all he said "good news" about, but I'm wondering why the hell he would ONLY test for that, why not test for everything at the same time, you know? That seems retarded to me, and I'm going to be furious when i call tomorrow if that's all he tested for. I believe I remember him saying something like "if there was a bacterial infection I would have seen an abnormal growth on your slide, but there was normal growth..." does that help?
I went to planned parenthood before him but they don't accept my unsurance and I made the mistake of telling them i don't have confidentiality issues so they wouldn't treat me with theirs.
Hi there -
How frustrating. It is best practice to actually culture when there are symptoms, but I'm not sure exactly what kind of testing he did. I know its a pain to call and ask, but I'd want to know if he tested for bacterial vaginosis, yeast, trich, gonorrhea, etc. I'd also want to know if they just did certain tests, or if they let a sample just grow and see what appeared.
Some doctors will to partner treatment, others won't. It depends on state laws, and how doctors feel about it personally.
Is there an std clinic near you? Google your city/county/state and std clinics and see if you can find one near you. A Planned Parenthood might be a good idea for you too.
