Azithromycin Diarrhea - not effective?

I noticed discharge from my penis and immediately went to the doctor and received 1 g of Azithromycin treatment for Chlamydia. I had diarrhea ~5 hours after I took the azithromycin. Was the antibiotic absorbed into my system or did it pass out with diarrhea?

Diarrhea is a common side effect, zithro is the most effective for chlamydia. if you have any concerns about whether the infection has cleared your body then you can rest 30 after taking the meds

I did test positive for chlamydia. My concern is that since the azithromycin caused diarrhea 5 hours after I took it that the antibiotic didn't have time to absorb into my system. Is diarrhea just a side effect and not associated with the absorption of azithromycin?

It was probably absorbed, but did you test for anything? Because the medication taken might not work on whatever you have/had.
