Biotin and STD tests

Can HIV and STD tests be truly affected by biotin intake and give false negative results? (5mg -6 mg a day) Are these infections ( 3- 4 years after the exposure) always detected despite the biotin intake?

The only STD test that I've seen that might be affected is the Hep B tests, and that's listed on Quest's page about biotin interference. See question #7.

You are most likely vaccinated for this, depending on where you live.

If you aren't in the US, you might check your lab's site to see if they have a list.

It seems they will be affected as long as you take the biotin. If you are concerned, just stop the biotin for a few days, then test. It is highly unlikely that you'd be infected with an STD or HIV for years and have no symptoms.

This is the HIV forum and we only answer questions about that here. What was your risk?

Hold up, you are writing about worries from 3 to 4 years ago?
Thank you guys.  The risk was vaginal. I was tested  years ago with multiple tests ( INSTI , Abott etc) )  but yesterday was the first time I ever read on the internet that biotin might interfere with certain results.  This is when I started to worry.
I had your post to the STD forum so your answer could be broader, but I'm sure you're fine.

If you're that concerned, you can just test again after stopping the biotin. I wouldn't worry.
@auntiejessi thank you :)
You're welcome. :)
