Burning during intercourse still!

Last year in April I started experiencing some vaginal itching. I had been using monistat because I thought it was a yeast infection. The monistat did not help so I went in for testing. I was told it was Trichomoniasis, I was given medication (four pills) After this I did not itch anymore but I was still experiencing pain and burning during sex and other random times during the day. I went back to be retested and everything was negative. I was very confused and went back once more and everything was negative again. Well I have been dealing with this for about a year now and now that I am pregnant I go to the doctor regularly. Everytime I have been tested(7 times now) I have come back negative for everything STD's, yeast, all of it. The doctor did prescribe me diflucan anyways because I am prone to yeast infections on my skin. This did seem to help a little and I also took microbid for a suspected bladder infection but still nothing has cleared this up! Some days are better than others, and it feels like my urethra is swollen and I can barely get my finger in my vagina. This has caused me to be severely depressed and I really wish they could find out what was wrong with me.I am scared this is going to be a problem when I give birth but my baby doctor dosen't know what to tell me. She tries to just tell me it is related to pregnancy or being irritated by soaps but I know that is not the case since it has been going on for so long and I wash it with water only. I am at the point where I just want to go to the ER so they can finally find out what it is- Is this the right option and can anyone please help me. : (Could this be a yeast that is undetectable by culture???

I can understand the frustration but if you think you are frustrated now, imagine how frustrated you'll be if you have a doctor who usually just deals with broken bones looking at your nether regions....he he he

At this point being pregnant, wait until after your 6 week follow up obgyn appointment and ask for a referral to a vulvodynia specialist to try to get to the bottom of things. they specialize in pain issues in the genital area of us gals. they should be able to work with you and your regular gyn to figure out what is going on so that at some point you'll have less discomfort during sex :)

best of luck!

Thanks for your response. I do think it would be wrong to go to the er for something of this nature too...I have just been so frustrated with this. Yes I do use lube, it is even more painful if I don't.

you've been tested for std's repeatedly and know it's not that.

unfortunately being pregnant, your options for trying to get to the bottom of this are limited.  No, going to the ER is not the right option at all! ER's are for broken bones and heart attacks, not burning during sex issues that have been going on for a year now.

do you use lube for sex?
