Can a sign of Chlamydia be detected in a regular urinalysis

Is it possible for a basic urinalysis to atleast detect a sign of chlamydia, not necessarily diagnose it but show that there may be a chance of it?

Hi,

You are right about the possibility that the blood which the urinalysis detected was from the seminal fluid.

However, it does not rule out the possibility of the blood in urine having originated in the upper urinary tract, such as the kidney or ureter.

Adderall has not been reported to cause any significant renal complications or prostate-related abnormalities, so the causative factors may be alcohol abuse and/or masturbation, if too frequent.

Hematuria, even if microscopic, needs medical evaluation if the number of cells are in excess of the normal number acceptable in urine.

You can increase your fluid intake to counter the effect of the dehydration caused by alcohol and avoid further irritation to the prostate.

regards,

Hey thanks for clearing that up for me.

One more question.

If I masterbated 10 to 15 minutes before a urinalysis was performed is it possible that the blood in the sample could be mistaken as urine when in fact it is the semen.

If so, doesnt that mean that the inflammation that was diagnosed on my urethra in fact be an inflammation of my prostate, because I am almost convinced that my excessive drinking and use of adderall amphetamines are damaging my prostate, leading to my problems.

Thanks!

Hi,

Chlamydia is an intracellular parasite and is not detected on a routine urinalysis.

Chlamydia can be detected on culture (tissue), direct antigen detection, and ligase chain reaction for Chlamydia. The culture takes about 48 hours and the other two tests are reported on within the same day.

This infection can be suspected when there are symptoms of UTI and urinalysis detects pus cells and blood but no bacteria, and standard culture grows no organism.

There are a few treatment regimens for Chlamydia; these include Azithromycin 1 g single dose, or doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days, or levofloxacin 500 mg once daily for 7 days, etc. All these regimens are administered orally.

As Chlamydia is a STD, it requires treatment of both partners for effective eradication of infection. Abstinence from sexual intercourse is advised during the course of treatment, but condoms should be used if the infected individuals intend to have sexual intercourse.

Do keep us posted on your doubts.
