Accuracy of RPR 1.5 years or more out (latent stage)

2-3 years ago, I had a sexually encounter.  A friend noticed two small rashes on my back a few weeks later .  Nothing on my hands or feet.  Although i noticed prior to that a sore in my mouth that did not last very long.  There was no oral sex involved.  About 6 months ago I read up and got concerned I might have acquired it.  I went for an RPR test and it came back negative.  I looked online and saw different statements regarding the accuracy of the RPR test during the latent stage.  1) What is the accuracy of that test and should I be re-tested?, 2) Is there a better test that should be performed when syphillis is in its latent stage?

Hi if you contracted syphilis 2-3 years ago and left it untreated you would not be typing qustions here as you would have brain damage from the disease. Also the test you had confirms you did not get  syphilis.

Hmm,  from what I read , Syphillis can stay "dormant" (I.e Latent) for 10 or 15 years after it goes the the secondary stage and before it enters the tertiary stage.  Sometimes it comes out of its latent stage sooner like 3-5 years.  I don't believe your statement above is correct.  Can anyone confirm?
