Ceftriaxone for syphilis?

Just wondering, does ceftriaxone treat syphilis as well (as some of the info I find on internet seem to indicate so)?  If that is indeed the case, then it would seem that the recommended treatment from CDC for gonorrhea (a single shot of ceftriaxone with a single dose of azithromycin) actually would take care of gonorrhea, chlamydia AND syphilis?
