Chlamydia Reinfection??? Please help

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with not only chlamydia, but gonorrhea as well. I made a very dumb decision by not making the guy wear a condom, but went for immediate treatment as soon as I was showing odd symptoms. I was given the shot and 2 500 mg of azithromycin and was told to return for a repeat culture a week later. It came back as still showing positive for chlamydia, but I'm not sure why the medication didn't work. I was doing some research and apparently it can either still be in my gut and not technically cured or because I retested so soon it may be the dead bacteria still showing on the test result. I'm now prescribed more antibiotics to cure it for good, but has anyone else had a Reinfection after treatment?? I'm very worried that it may cause PID due to it possibly being left untreated and making its way into my gut. Very scared. Any credible information accepted.
