Cold-like Symptoms after Sex

This past weekend I had sex with an escort and i gave her oral sex.  Immediately after the encounter, my throat began to feel itchy.  The next day it became a bit more severe, and I began to feel cold-like symptoms.  This lasted for two days then receded.  On the second, day i felt and noticed two small red bumps under my tongue which was not painful at all, but noticeable.  Today, the cold like symptons are gone but I have been coughing and feeling congested.  I have also noticed and felt a new red bump on the roof of my mouth. It feels more annoying and irritated then anything else.

I went to see my dentist to get a diagnosis of the bumps, and they gave me an HPV test (passed), and told me to come back after two weeks.  She could not give me a concrete answer to what this could be.

Obviously, i caught an STI and I'm hoping it is not and STD.  I've seen what herpes look like and I don't think i caught it, but not 100% sure because the bumps are not painful and do not form a cluster.  I've had canker sores in my mouth in the past and it feels more like it, but because these symptoms happend within 24 hours after sex I'm looking for all the possibilities to clearly identify what i caught.

Has anyone experienced this and identified what it could be?  would a blood test determine if i have HSV1?  I've taken it in the last year and came out negative.  I will be seeing my doctor in the next few weeks, but for piece of mind I'm looking for immediate answers. Thanks for your time.

Doesn't sound like a STD.

What it sounds like you have is allergies/sinus trouble.  This happens to me quite often.  The bumps may be polyps.   The itchy throat is a good sign that is what happened.  You probably had some post-nasal drip going on.  Sinus pressure, stuffy nose, sneezing, headache, scratchy itchy throat.  Sound about right?

Symptoms never show that soon after sex. You most likely just had a small cold.
