What is going on with my vagina?

I have never considered Herpes as a possibility until recently when I heard that itching and tingling can be signs of it.  I've never had any blisters, sores, etc. but I recently have had itching and tingling that I assumed was a yeast infection again.  I've had this sensation before..usually when the warm weather comes along, but this time the sensations lasted for about 4 weeks but the itching was so slight I thought it was a minor yeast infection that would resolve itself with some acidophilus etc.  I took diflucan, but it came back 2 weeks later with a vengeance.  More diflucan, lessening of symptoms, but now tingling and itching are back.  The tingling occurs all over my whole vagina and sometimes into both buttocks. The itching is all over too.   I also get some pain in the left side of my lower labia.  Once in the place where the pain is I found a lump underneath the skin like a really small pea but there was nothing on top of the skin. The pain lasts for about a day usually and then goes away.  I've looked with a mirror for anything else but see nothing.  At its worst, the itching presents with some cottage cheesy discharge, but that's it.  Should I get tested for Herpes?

4 1/2 weeks post exposure.  I had an IgG/IgM test and it detected herpes antibodies.  There were onloy a few antibodies, so I have to go back to test again to determine the type that I have.

you need to see your doctor for a full exam and testing. Get tested for yeast and bacterial infections as well as other std's.  This doesn't sound like herpes.  Usually an itch that drives you insane is due to bv which can't be treated with diflucan.

Also regular acidophulus supplements do not colonize the urogenital area to help with vaginal yeast infections ( or bv ).  You need a product that specifically does like femdophilus by jarrow. Look it up - the research was originally done by dr gregor reid.

Pretty typical I think -I've had two episodes where it started with redness and tenderness in the whole area then turned into painful urination and one red area which turned into a sore both times (although it was a bit difficult to see). The second time I took aciclovir (or however you spell it) and the sore went away more quickly which is what makes me think it is it.

I just had a herpes blood test (1&2) 16 weeks past exposure and my results came back negative. I do not have visible sores and ulcers, but I do suffer from burning vaginal pain that begins about a week after my cycle and continues until my next cycle. At times, I have had a mild back ache and the occasional throbbing in my upper thighs. I'd love to rule out herpes, but so far my doctor has no clue as to what else is possibly causing my symptoms.

Cluelessintexas - How long past exposure were you when your blood test finally came back positive?

Joliz - Do you suffer from visible sores or do you have atypical symptoms as well?

If you dont mind me asking, why was it it took five tests? were some of the tests the less inaccurate ones, or was it too soon etc? The reason I ask is that I was tested 14 weeks after symptoms using an IgG test and it came back negative yet my symptoms match herpes and im sure I do have it

You DO NOT need to have visable sores to have herpes.  I have herpes and I've NEVER had visible sores/ulcers.  Mine have been mild:  Mild burning sensation, lower back pain, sore groin lymph nodes, tingling, pain in my buttocks and lower leg...

I think you should get tested.  It might take several test to show anti-bodies.  It took me FIVE different tests to show antibodies.

Good luck.

What you describe does not sound like herpes.  Unless you have a visable sores then it would not be herpes.  I wouldn't worry about that.  You might want to consider seeing a doctor and at least having a urine analysis done.
