Delay before being contagious

I was on vacation last week and had sex with a stranger also on vacation.  Unfortunately, the condom broke during intercourse.  The following day I began feeling pain in my testicles (on/off during the day) but had no other pain. It went away the next day, but it does seem to come back every now and then for a small period of time.

As a precaution, I went to a emergency testing clinic a week later (went I came back home) to get tested.  The doctor there told that my symptoms didn't necessarily mean that I had an STD and told me to come back 3 weeks later the get officially and completely check out (seems to be a delay before I can get conclusive results on the test).

Now my question is this.  If he told me to come back a few weeks later.  Does this me that i'm not contagious before that 3 week time period ?

Thanks in advance for your help

No it doesn't mean that you aren't contagious.  The reason in waiting to test is just what the doctor said to get an accurate reading on the tests since our bodies take timem to buld antibodies.
