HHV 8
Dear sir I had unprotected vaginal and received oral sex 1 year ago and she has 4-5 Sex partners after i knowing this i tested STD panel 3 and 6 month all are nagetive but I'm worrying about HHV 8 because please answer me 1) my son is asthmatic he needs Prednisone 20 mg daily every 6 month for a week and also he want daily steroid inhaler if i already ineffected from HHV 8 i thought it transfer from me to my son what happens next? 2) i read in internet steroids makes low immunity so any problem from HHV 8 to my son 3) how to spread HHV 8 some articles claims it is spread from Saliva so is it possible in daily life i mean using utensils sharing food, drinks, bed, etc 4) i need any blood test? if i need where is blood test available to me I'm from India i already contacted many reputed labs but not available Dear sir I'm lot of thinking and worrying about my son because if he will become a immunocompromised from asthama medicine what I do please help me

thank you for your reply firstly no one told me you are effected by HHV 8 only i read this in internet because of HHV 8 also spread from sexual roots anyway have few more questions 1) you said 'you'd not get that in india' mean HHV 8 not spread in India? 2) my son need steroid inhaler also so long term steroid using will makes him immunity low in future? 3) my son is only 7 year age i can't force him for frequently hand wash and wear mask etc..

No, it's just not common at all in India. It's not sub Saharan Africa. I said it wasn't likely that you'd get it in India, not that you wouldn't.

This is a question for his doctor. I don't know what type of inhaler he's using, etc., and this is a herpes forum.

You can instruct him to. Kids in the US were wearing masks. Talk to his doctor about it. I understand that you can't be with your kids at all times, but you can teach your kids to wash their hands.
4 - The first article says that "The seroprevalence of HHV-8 was 4.7% in the South Indian population." That's not high.
CMV, which is HHV5, has a seroprevalence in India of 80-90% in adults in some parts of India.
The second article doesn't give enough info - we don't know if the patient had AIDS. It says "secondary infection" in the text, suggesting something else was going on, and also COPD, not asthma.
Please talk to your child's doctor. These concerns are for the doctor to address.

HHV8 is Kaposi sarcoma - it is a cancer that is much more common in sub-Saharan Africa than anywhere else, and is often associated with having AIDS, though you don't have to have AIDS to get it.
It's not at all likely that you'd get it in India.
Prednisone can make your immune system weaker, but when they talk about immunocompromised patients and KS, they mean things like advanced AIDS, not prednisone use.
Really, you're overthinking this. Just have your son wash his hands, etc., and maybe mask, and he'll be fine.
