Are these a form of warts and are they safe to remove?

I'm a guy and after I first started shaving down there i got what looked like two common freckles/moles and didn't think anything of it. They're brown flat and perfectly round. Shaving several more times over the years the virus seemed to spread and now I have a couple more on each side of the base on one lighter smaller one halfway up forming. They don't hurt or itch and stay the same size. Do you think it will be safe to remove them myself with an acidic genital wart remover? I never told my specialist because during a mole screening he had two young and very immature acting girl assistants in the room and I didn't feel comfortable.

Hi, i would have a doc take a look before fooling with these but genital warts are raised warts not flat brown spots. Could be a type of scaring from shaving.

Thanks, you're right.  I did some more looking and think they're something called bowenoid papuloses. Closely related to a wart and also caused by hpv.
