Terrified of STD

I made a huge mistake and am very scared. I had sex with a man of unknown status. I am also a man, but this was my first time. I used a condom and only I entered. The condom did not break but I did notice he has a rash on his rear. I didn't think much of it at the time. I just thought it was just acne or folliculitis which I had in college from playing sports, but then I looked at some websites and am now terrified it might have been scabies, herpes or second phase syphilis. It was a big rash and was not in the anal cavity but more in the gluteal area. I am terrified. Does this sound like and STD and Is it contagious? Only the part of my privates that was not covered with a condom might have touched it and maybe my hand or leg. I am really scared and wish I had stayed abstinate.

Many rashes are related to the reaction of the immune system and there is nothing actually contagious from the rash itself.

Other skin conditions relate to epidermal issues that are also not contagious through contact.

It may have also been a pigmentation issue.

Overall I cannot think of anything serious that would be contagious and agree that the chances of you being infected with it (and not seeing any symptoms) is extremely remote as well.

Thank you! I very much appreciate your timely answer. One more quick question. Even if it the rash was something would having the part of my penis (maybe just a centimeter) or my scrotum that wasn't covered by a condom touch that area make me likely to get something like scabies or herpes? I don't think it would have been tons of contact and the whole event was less than 10 minutes. Reading on this site it seems unlikely even if it was something more than a general rash, but some of the other stuff I have seen on the web makes me scared.

Most rashes are just a rash! I think you are overplaying the possibilities as it does not sound like an STD.

Unless you experience some skin symptoms, I would not be concerned.
