How quick do STD's appear?

How fast do STD's show up? I received oral sex on sat night/ sun morning. By midday I could feel a twinge in my urethra (I have had NGU before and it felt like this), by the evening I knew there was something not right. The next day the pain in my urethra as worse.

I assumed it was NGU again and have gotten anti-biotics from my doctor. But now I read that STD's dont show up that fast- my symptom started within 12 hours, even less maybe. There is no discharge at all, no real itchiness, just a mild constant pain in my penis. There has been an urgency to pee and it slightly burns when I do but nothing major.

Is this an STD or something else? Surely it must be NGU again, the symptoms are the exact same. Its not going away and I am freaking out! Please advise!

Metronidazole would take care of trich which is difficult to diagnose in men, so that is good. Erythromycin is not the preferred medication for chlamydia, but it is an alternative.  Neither of them will cure gonorrhea but your symptoms are not likely to be gonorrhea because men almost always get the tell tale dripping discharge.

Oh I should add, the other main symptom I have along with penile pain is a redness at the entrance to my urethra.

I did test at the GP's, it was a swab, I get the results tmrw.

I meant to ask, I was given Metronidazole (400mg x 3 a day) and Eryhromycin (500mg x 4 a day) to take for a week. If I had any STD's would tis cure it? Chlamydia, gono, etc

You should have tested.  We cannot diagnose you because we can't test you.
