I am not sure if I have an STI infection

Several weeks ago I went to my doctor experiencing symptoms of an STI infection - itchy penis and a greenish/brown discharge. I was given azithromycin and also tested. The azithromycin cleared up the symptoms however one week later the test came back positive for gonorrhea (negative for all other bacteria/viruses tested). I returned immediately to the doctor and received an additional dose of azithromycin (oral) plus cefixime, both to be taken in one dose. I did so and the symptoms remained cleared away. I had no sexual contact with anyone at all during this period.

Now, about 10 days after I took the azithromycin/cefixime combo, I am starting to experience symptoms again. These are different. Now I have very minor dull pain in and around my scrotum and testes, sometimes radiating down my legs. I did not have this before, during the onset of the gonorrhea infection. As well, there is a very minor clear discharge, however in far less of an amount that during the gonorrhea infection initially and only intermittent. The discharge may leave one small spot on my underwear per day, or nothing at all on some days. The end of my penis/urethral opening feels "wet" sometimes and is a little red and swollen, but I cannot produce any discharge from it when I try.

A public health nurse who contacted me after my positive test results informed me that there would be no point in re-testing for gonorrhea until early March since the test would likely return false positive results so early after treatment anyway. Given that I complied with the treatment (twice) and re-infection is not possible, I am not sure if I should be worried that there has been a treatment failure and the same gonorrhea is just manifesting with different and less severe symptoms, or if it is more likely that the symptoms I am experiencing are just the tail-end of the infection which has been killed by the drugs, or perhaps just symptomatic of a secondary inflammation or non-infectious urethritis.

Any insights?

Hi if treated correctly the symptoms of gono with white puss discharge and burning while urinating should clear up about 5 days after treatment and would only return if the treatment failed. I would suggest to milk your penis in the moring before urinating to see if any white puss discharge comes out but the leg issues are not a symptom of Gono

The burning cleared up and has not come back and I have been milking it any many time throughout the day, including first thing in the morning, with nothing coming out. It feels "wet" sometimes but no actual discharge can be squeezed out and my underwear is clear except for the very occasional spot, which looks a little like precum. But this spot, when it even appears at all, is negligible compared to the discharge which occurred during the actual infection. Really the main symptoms occurring now is the pain in the testes and the wet feeling on the urethra.
