Identifying Syphilis

I am a bit concerned I may have syphills.  

14 days ago I received unprotected oral sex and then had intercourse while wearing a condom.

2 nights ago, while masturbating, I noticed a small sore on my penis. I don't think I really felt it but it might have stung a little when I was masturbating and then I noticed it for the first time.  It is located in an area I would be holding during masturbation,  on the shaft of my penis, not the tip of foreskin.  

I stopped masturbating and over the past 2 days it has scabbed over and seems to be healing.  It really is not painful at all.

It doesn't really look like any of the graphic examples of syphilis sores I have seen online.  It was not a deep open sore but more like a round cut on the surface.  However,  it is definitely not normal and has me concerned.

I am currently working on an offshore oil rig so I can't really get tested for a few weeks, but I might be able to get some antibiotics from a medic if I have sufficient reason to think it might be syphilis.  

My main question is would a syphilis sore scab over like a regular cut, and would this happen so quickly as 1-2 days.

Well probably more common in the Philippines then US, but I would not be concerned.

I am from the US but I live (and this happened) in the Philippines.   I know it's rare, and it seems unlikely but a sore like this has never appeared on me before and it's got me concerned.  

I guess its hard for me to find out since I cannot see a doctor, and will just get tested when I get back home.  I was just hoping for some feedback to see how concerned I should be.

Syphilis is rare, where about are you from?

It was a heterosexual encounter, and you are correct it was unprotected oral sex and then protected intercourse.  

I don't know if the girl was infected with syphilis or not as it was a girl I met in a bar and a one night stand.

I am alarmed to see the small red wound on my foreskin, but it has completely scabbed over now and I did not notice it oozing the way the pictures of syphilis I see online are doing.  I just don't know how a syphilis wound would progress and I am hoping for some information.

I am going to see the medic onboard but I don't know if this is something he is very experienced with.

It is pretty hard to get syphilis assuming a heterosexual encounter.  Also especially that it was oral sex (unprotected), and then protected oral sex.   Yah we know that syphilis is a uclerative STD, which means gential to genital or direct contact with a lesion is required.

I'll be honest I am not well versed on the progression of a syphilis lesion, so can really comment on your question.    Do you think the person you had intimate contact with has syphilis?
