Irritation

Ok, so recently the tip of my penis started hurting when I urinated and turned red and swollen. This was a few days after I returned home from visiting my girlfriend who lives 3 hours away. We have been together for 3 years and to my knowledge there has been no infidelity. I went to a health center after a few days and had a urinalysis done to test for Chlamydia and a UTI. Both tests came back negative for bacteria, according to the doctor, and I was told to take 2 ibuprofen every few hours for a couple of days. The redness has gone away slightly, it hurts slightly to moderately on the inside when I urinate, just the upper third portion. At the tip, however, it sticks together with a clear fluid that I can't really say is a discharge because none of it is present besides the sticking. I have no idea what is going on, the doctor told me there was blood in the urine and that it was probably over stimulation from going to no sex for a month to frequent sex when I visit my girlfriend. She has no symptoms of an STD and is also confused to the explanation. I workout frequently and drink almost 2 liters of water a day and am on a multi-pill vitamin that I've been taking for 2 years. I don't know if that will mess with the results or what, but I would appreciate suggestions.

A yeast infection from sexual activity with a woman who has a yeast infection is possible but you would not be showing it in your mouth.  And as healthadvisory said, it is not that common to happen. It would affect your genital area.  So in this respect... because you did a spit test...i assumed you did it to test for oral thrush which is a yeast infection in your mouth.  So, it still is not relevant in this.  If you are still having problems, you should go back to your provider and test again...I said earlier you could have tested too early to detect anything.  Or you could have had a false negative for other reasons.

For practical reasons a yeast infection can be considered an STD. It can be transmitted sexually even though it isn't technically labeled as an STD. So it has relevance to my earlier question, as I am trying to figure out the problem.

Your question about yeast has nothing to do with std's.

vitamins will not change the outcome of your test.

Ok, I was worried that large amounts of water could dilute results when mixed with an 11 pill vitamin pack. I will most likely go back tomorrow, however, I recently tried the spit test for a male yeast infection. I couldn't verify the validity of this test, but it says to spit into a glass of water first thing in the morning and watch your saliva. If it gets stringy and sediment forms at the bottom, it is supposed to be a good indicator of a male yeast infection. Can anyone help me in determining if this is a reliable test? I did it anyways this morning and my spit did string up and sediment formed in the bottom. I've never observed my spit in a glass before so I don't know what it looks like normally. Thanks again for your help.

No, that would not mess with the results.  However, you could have tested too early.  I would go back when it has been a week since you came home.
