I went to my GUM 7 days ago and received a single dose of Azithromycin and single dose Ceftriaxone after having 1 day of redness at tip of Urethra and milky discharge (I went in the same morning when I noticed the discharge). I also had taken some 5 year old single dose Amoxycillin I had at homebefore going to the GUM. Swab test diagnosed NGU, blood test came back negative for Syphilis, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. While the redness has subsided, there is still some discomfort (slight itching) no burning during urination, and slight milky discharge in the morning. Should I give the meds more time to do their work or should I go back in? Clinic receptionist (not a nurse) said wait 10 days total. I am in my late 40's and in good health otherwise. As far as contracting it, I received unprotected oral sex from a man 2 weeks prior to the symptoms, and then again 2 days prior to the symptoms. I have a regular female sex partner had oral and vaginal sex 3 days prior to the symptoms, and she had previously been tested for everything. Have been reading the mycoplasma doesn't respond well to antibiotics but Nurse Practitioner at the GUM said otherwise. Should I continue to wait? I assume no sex until all symptoms are gone? Any likely candidates for what this STI is?
