Odor from penis after std

Hi, I got NGU 3 months ago, it took 2 course of anti-biotics and 2 months but it finally went away (no irritation/ pain in urethra, no discharge, no itchiness anymore) and I have had 2 urethra swabs done that both came back negative, when previously I had an infection. However over the past month I have noticed quite a strong odor (fishy) from my penis. I have had this before but never this strong. I am uncircumcised but wash myself down there. Could ths be related?

If it is a yeast infection, you will need to treat it because it can travel up your urinary tract and you can pass it on to your sexual partners. You can actually use an over-the-counter product that women use - like Monistat. However, it is probably best to consult with a dr. to make sure it is in fact a yeast infection before you try to treat it yourself.

Thanks. I had read that a yeast infection might be it. Would I need treated or will it go away itself? Is it serious, can I pass it on?

If your tests came back negative, you should be confident that you no longer have NGU. However, 2 courses of antibiotics may have left you vulnerable to a yeast infection - which might account for the fishy odor. This is something you should ask you doctor about.

Best of luck..
