Duration of treatment of STD's

A friend of mine recently got involved with a new girlfriend who says she cannot have sex because of an std that she is in treatment for. She says she has been in treatment since 2009 and is hoping that she will be cured soon. My concern is that any std that I am aware of that requires treatment for such a long time may not have a cure. She will not tell her the name of the std. They have not been sexual yet but have kissed. I am worried that if the std is Hepatitis it can be passed through saliva by my understanding. The girl has had previous relations with both men and women and there are concerns that she may have been a drug user at one time however it is unlikely that needles were involved. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

the std is most likely HPV. It takes awhile to cure it but it eventually becomes unable to pass after a certain time.

Well, you're correct to my knowledge there is no STD that can't be cured in a shorter periord of time unless it can't be cured.

if your friend is looking to stay with this girl then she should make it clear that she needs to be honest with her about her STD and what it is so that she may be safe. Otherwise it may not be worth staying with someone who isn't fully honest. although at least she told her that she has an STD and is being sexually safe. If your friend is willing to hang around until they find a cured for what ever STD this is then thats her choice.
