Please help! Question about possible transmission...

Unprotected insertive anal sex w/ female, 2x in one night, who was tested and claims to be HIV-.  She said she was tested a couple of months ago and that the test resulted in a negative status.  She claims her last unprotected partner was approximately 3 months before the test.  Since then, she CLAIMS to have had 1 partner other than me, but protection was used.

I0 days after the episode, I went to a physician because my testicles felt very sore.  He prescribed me ZMAX 2MG oral liquid solution and gave me a 250mg shot of Ceftriaxone (Rocephin).  I also submitted a urinalysis for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea and a blood test for HIV.

I'm very nervous.  Being that the HIV test was only 10 days after the incident, how accurate do you think it will be?  What are my chances of being infected?

Would the antibiotics given to me cure any possible Chlamydia/Gonorrhea/Syphilis infection?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thought u were the original poster of this thread. Please if you have questions start your own thread and if they are related to HIV post in the HIV community. See the link above.
You can throw out what I said about test being 100% accurate now because I have no clue about your risk or time frame.

Most Dr's or hospitals have them. But any HIV test is 100% accurate now.

Yes, its a good sign, and its too late for ARS.  You probably have the same virus that I've heard about in at least a dozen people in the last week.

I've let this go, but HIV questions really belong in the HIV prevention forum.

I woke up this morning with a very bad sore throat and a fever.  I went to the doctor and he  performed a strep culture, which came out negative.

He gave me lidocaine for the soreness and referred me to a urologist.

Would ARS symptoms creep up on me on the 7th week?

Is the OraQuick Oral Swab test at 4 weeks negative a good sign or am I just grasping for any hope?

This has nothing to do with HIV - if that's what you are afraid of, you can put that to rest.

You really need to be seen about this, hon.  I know its frustrating and scary, but you need to get some treatment.

I haven't been back to the doctor.  I took the HIV test at an HIV clinic and the advisor was very confident that my test at 31 days was 99% conclusive.  He stated that the type of test they use can detect the antibodies very early.

I'm really having a hard time with my sore testicles.  It is intermittent, but when it does occur it is quite prevalent.  The pain is definitely there.  It feels like someone just THUMPED both of my testicles.

I'm thinking it could possibly be an E. Coli infection or something of the sort.

Sore testicles, from what I can tell, are not a symptom of HIV...  I've read the soreness can be attributed to gonorrhea or a UTI involving another bacteria.

I've still got a bit of a sore throat, mostly just a slight itch.  Don't know if that helps with pinpointing anything.

I feel so helpless, I just want to be healthy and my testicles hurting is really messing with my psyche.

Have you had your prostate checked?  Your urine cultured to see what grows?  An ultrasound of your testicles?

All those should be your next steps.

Got an update, some questions and concerns...  please help.

At 31 days I took an oral swab HIV test, came back negative.  Very reassuring.

My problem is that my testicles are still very sore.  The initial Chlaymdia/Gonhorea tests I took came back negative - and I was given the ZMAX 2MG oral liquid solution and a 250mg shot of Ceftriaxone just in case.

My testicles hurt!!!!  It's an off and on pain.  No discharge, nothing like that.  Just a very sore pain.

Someone PLEASE help..  what could this be?

CALM DOWN.

Less than 1% of people in the US have HIV.  Chances are great that she doesn't have it.

AJ and maybe the Doc can chime in..

I asked her if she would test again and she said she would in a couple of months.  I'm completely freaking out.  My stomach is killing me and I feel like my lymph nodes are swelling under my neck.  I've somewhat of an itchy throat.  I'm *FREAKING* out.  The mental factor is making me feel terrible.

I'm thinking about getting an OraQuick mouth swab test next week, which would be a little more than 3 weeks since possible exposure.

Can anyone tell me what the chances of the woman being HIV+ could possibly be?

I really need some kind words, I feel awful.

If she acquired HIV the day before our exposure, would her HIV+ be very infectious?  Please help..  PLEASE HELP.

At one month, 90% of people would show positive.  By 2 months, its around 95%, and by 3 months, its accurate.

You can check out http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/testing/resources/qa/be_tested.htm#wait for info on testing.

General testing guidelines set by the CDC only recommend testing after 3 months if a person has a KNOWN HIV exposure - that is, someone who had unprotected sex with or shared a needle with someone who is known to have HIV.  Since most people don't have HIV, if you haven't had a known exposure, you only need to test at the 3 month point.

The average time to show positive is 25 days, according to the CDC.

Have you spoken with the girl and asked her to test again?

I keep finding conflicting information online regarding the time it takes for the antibodies to show up.  I've seen 10 days, 1 month, 3 months.. 6 months!

I'm really freaking out.  The women I had insertive anal intercourse with told me she was tested as I mentioned above, but I'm still so scared.  My first post on this thread explains what she told me.

10 days is not accurate at all?  How about 1 month?  Accuracy rate?

I could really use some assurance or reliable information.  I'm tired of reading all the mixed information all over the web.

Please help!

The antibiotics you got are for chlamydia and gonorrhea, but might cure a developing syphilis infection.

Your HIV test at 10 days won't show anything from this encounter - it can take up to 3 months to show positive, but about 90-95% will by 6 weeks.

I don't know what your chances are, but it doesn't matter if she was HIV negative.  Most people are.
