8 week test result vs 12 weeks

Is a 6-8 week test result conclusive? If I test 8 weeks after possible exposure should I test again for 12. I know the cdc says 3 months (12 weeks) but what are the odds a negative test at 8 wks would turn positive at 12 wks?
