I had a false-positive Gonorrhea test, what should I believe?

I am so happy I found this website and I need help answering something that has been bothering me for months. I've been with my fiance for three years now. Back in May 08 I went to the doctor becuase I had been having abdominal pain for a month or so and there I was tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia (as part of there routine) They tested me using the swab method where they take a long Q-tip and swab the cervix area. A week later the nurse called me and said I needed to go on an antibiotic because I tested positive for Gonorrhea. I started freaking out and crying on the phone and told her that there was absolutely no way this could be right, and that it had to have been a big mistake. I called my fiance immediately at work and told him that we needed to go to the doctor asap. About an hour later we both went to the doctor together and took urine tests. We had to wait three days until the doctor called us to tell us the results. Those three days of waiting were pure hell and misery!! The doctor called and told us that we both tested NEGATIVE. I had a few questions about all of this. 1) Is the Urine test suppost to be more accurate than the swabbing method? I've read so many other postings where people were getting false-positive Gonorrhea tests. Why are Doctors still using the swab method if its so innaccurate? I mean, I don't want anyone else to have to go thru what I did. 2) Another concern of mine is what am I suppost to believe? After being tested a second time I took antibiotics just to be safe but did I have Gonorrhea or not? I tested Positive and then I tested Negative. When I took the urine test it was in the afternoon, not in the morning. Does that have anything to do with it? 3) Another thing is I DID have an anal discharge during all of that (it was a very light-pink foul smelling discharge) The doctor told me that it was just some bacteria that probably moved its way into the rectal area. I am so confused and not sure what to think. My fiance was a virgin before he met me and before we had sex for the first time I was tested for all STDs and everything was negative. Please note that recently I was diagnosed with Molluscum Contagium. Is my fiance lying to me? Did I really have Gonorrhea?? Help!!

Was that last message for me? You mentioned something about DNA and Z-Pak so I am not sure if you are reffering to my incident?

If I may add couple of words to this thread.

Your Gonorreha test may of have been false positive, if you had a any strain of bacteria such as  Ureaplasma.

The Urine DNA test is very very very accurate, so you didn't have that.

Besides, did you get Z-Pack or what type of antibiotics.

Yes, and listen to auntijessi, knows what shes talking about.

They should be able to.  They treat genital warts there, and molluscum is treated the same way.

Check and see if PP takes your insurance, too.

It's going to take me forever to get into a Gynocologist and the Dermotologist office said that in order for me to get in there I need my regular provider to refer me over to them. So, I called Planned Parenthood and they could get me in real soon without any trouble. Can Planned Parenthood take care of my Molluscum problem?

Oh and if you think he got treated and didn't tell you, that's a totally different story, and that's something you have to address with him.  That's a big trust issue there.

They are probably molluscum.  Molluscum is a virus, and you have to be exposed to it.  Maybe he got it at the gym or something?

I know I got this from having sex, I just know it. My fiance and I are very sexually active and we sweat a lot down there and our skin rubs against eachother. I thought Moluscum was just caused from sweat. The Molluscum is only down in my genitals. If i happend to have touched something with molluscum on it then why wouldnt i have it anywhere else such as legs, back, arms?

I never used anyone else's towel ( I am a germ freak as it is I dont even drink out of anyone else's cup) Ive never worn anyone elses underwear I wash my hands often I just cant see any other way that I could of possibly gotten except for sex. Even though my fiance hasn't been tested I think he has it, but just not as severe as me. He has little red bumps scattered around his pubic area from his belly button down. They could just be pimples but why would I have it and he doesnt?

We both tested negative but i had an anal discharge also remember. What if he was already treated for it but never told me he had it? Another question of mine is how long can the molluscum virus stay in your body until you see the first bump? I am wondering if i got the virus over three years ago.

It just seems so rare to me that you could touch something and then touch your genitals and then get it. If I ever itched down there it was on the outside of my underwear.

Oh sorry - I'm getting all confused, aren't I?

Didn't your man test negative for gonorrhea?  Why are you doubting this?

And you might have gotten molluscum from straddling a machine, touching something with your hand, then touching your genitals, etc.  Does your bf have molluscum?

I really get why you want to know - you are trying to figure out if he cheated.  That would drive me crazy too.  At this point, all you can do is go with your gut.

The whole Gonorrhea incident didn't happen three years ago, it happend a couple of months ago. I've been with my fiance for three years.

Even though it was treated it matters that I might of had it in the first place. I am never really going to know..ever. All I know is I never cheated and my fiance swears he never cheated on me. But why do I have Molluscum now? I know I didnt get it from some towel or exercise equipment I mean come on now. Whenever I went to the gym I wore pants or shorts so how did my genitals and upper pubic area get them?

Well, what does it matter, really?  Its a simple infection that if you had it, you got it treated.

It might have been gonorrhea, but maybe you had internal hemorrhoids that were bleeding a bit.  Its really time to move on - its been 3 years, and it makes NO difference whatsoever now if you had it back then.

Molluscum can be an std, but you can also get it other ways.  Its common in day care centers, you or your man might have picked it up at the gym on a piece of equipment or a towel, etc.

Check out www.ashastd.org for more info on molluscum.

As you know I mentioned earlier that I was diagnosed with Molluscum Contangiosum. Is this an STD or is it just from sweaty skin contact? I am just wondering if I got it from my fiance then did he get it from someone else or could he have gotten it someway different? I am trying to figure out if he is getting all of these things from someone else and then giving them to me

OK then scratch that.  I missed that the first time - I'm sorry.

And it might have been gonorrhea, but you might never know now.  If the meds helped the discharge, whatever it was is gone.

I've already taken the antibiotics for it. The discharge went away after that

I don't know what it could have been - that's why you should test again.  If you had anal symptoms, make sure they do an anal culture as well.

One thread - you have two different topics going now.  This is one thread, the other question is in another thread.  Its helpful if its all in one place.

Unfortunately I didn't test for a third time. What could that anal-discharge have been if it wasnt Gonorrhea. I think about this everyday

I don't know, but a third test would put it all to rest.

The swab and urine tests are both generally very accurate, but no test is 100% accurate for anything.
